Is the model railway exhibition on this year in Raheny?

    Peter

MRSI Raheny alternate each year with the South Dublin MRC to hold an exhibition so this year the Dublin Exhibition is at Blackrock College (Cross Avenue Entrance) on October 26th, 27th and 28th (Bank Holiday Weekend) 11am to 5 pm. Wexford Model Railway Club will be there with their O gauge "Little Siddington" layout:

At least we didn't end up with a bus replacement service.

    Image result for 121 bus

You wait years for a 121 and then 12 turn up together!

I want one to be barely visible in an engine shed, will it be possible to just buy the front half?

Buy one, cut it in half, then you have two ends to display at your engine shed!

I'd like a copy of that, but according to the publisher's website, it's sold out.

Great book. Every station on the line is covered with extensive photos and a drawing of the layout of the points and tracks. I used it as an essential reference when developing models of Llangollen, Cynwyd and Llanuwchllyn stations.

The standard of modelling on the Irish  two dioramas appears to be really high.

Apart from the Bala Lake Railway a drive along the A4142 from Bala to Trawsfynydd (or as the locals say Traws) is well worth it in itself. The road follows the mountain section of the BR/WR  Bala-Festiniog branch line through some of the remotest country in Wales  https://www.revolvy.com/page/Cwm-Prysor-Viaduct

Spent much of my mis-spent 30s in North Wales used to stop for a quick pint in Bala on a Friday night or rign through a last drinks order if we were unlikely to reach Portmadoc by closing time.

I met the author Martin Williams at the Bala MR Exhibition - he published a fine book on the Llangollen (Ruabon to Barmouth) line and has a new book out on the Bala-Ffestiniog branch which is selling out fast and well worth a read.

  7. I attended the recent Bala MR Exhibition in Wales with my "Cynwyd" layout but noted a number of static exhibits there of Irish interest:

First, three shots of a model of the Listowel & Ballybunion "Laritigue" monorail system:

Secondly, an exhibit entitled "Shannon Tramway":

I’m sending off for an Alpha etc catalogue tonight!

I will write a letter, stick a stamp on it and put it in a local Edwardian letterbox tomorrow.

My letter will go to Kingstown Pier, and onto the steamship for Holyhead, from where a big LNWR locomotive will bring it to the capital of the Empire. A postman with a big hessian sack will then deliver it to Alpha.

I hope they are well stocked up with tallow candles to read mail on these dark evenings......

I hope you wrote the letter with a quill pen!

    Great video Eoin.

Great video indeed. A great exhibition experienced here in Wexford as you can see. Thanks to everyone who exhibited and visited us. Next year's exhibition is being moved to the 9th and 10th of May 2020 because many find it difficult to cover the Easter/Bank-holiday period due to school holidays/vacations/other events etc.
