Thanks John, Appreciate the advice. At the moment I only have one straight section of track with a pair of crossover points. They are working fine, so fingers crossed. If I was not using self latching points, this would not have worked. I don't understand why the spring on the Seep points needs to be so strong, but I am no expert. Maybe all points are like that. Seep are the only ones I have bought so far. I hope to add some more track in the weeks and months to come. So I will keep in mind your advice. Thanks again. Controller.

Thanks RF, I was nice of you to get back to me. I managed to solve the problem. I removed the spring which was holding the bar on the motor. I believe it is used for latching the motor. It is a very strong springe and was stopping the motor from closing properly. The CDU is powerful enough to operate the motor both ways, and the points I am using are self latching so all is working well. Thanks again. Controller.

Hi Lads, I am having a problem with Seep points I am trying to install, to operate a set of Peco large radius points. I am using a Gaugemaster DCC33 point decoder with CDU. I am trying to operate two PM1 Seep points. I am operating a DCC Gaugemaster Prodigy Advance 2. Everything is wired up as it should be. The problem is, the points are not getting enough power from the CDU in the point decoder. I am using heavy enough wire from the decoder to the points as advised. They are about 1ft,and 10 ins, long. Is there a way I can connect another CDU, or would that blow the whole thing to pieces?. The bar is only moving about one eight of a inch or less either way. Thanks, Controller.

Garfield, DJ, Si2020, Thank you all very much for all your help. Loco 018 is out of the works, and back in service where she belongs. All functions up and running. Thanks again. Controller.

Hi Simon, I haven't tried those functions yet, I didn't know they went up that far. Shows you how much I know about decoders. Have to go and do some work now, but I will give them functions a try in the evening. I will give the lads in IRM a shout about that decoder function list. Thanks for all your help. Controller. Thank you DJ, Your a gentleman. Controller

Hi, Thanks Simon, that helps a great deal. I saw a list of all the functions for this decoder on the forum some time back, I should have printed it off . The problem remains about the lights, headlight, cab, engine room, none of them are working. Hope you can tell me what I am doing wrong. Once Again Thanks, Controller.

Hi Garfield, I tried a different decoder (one from my MM 201) in 018. The same problems occurred. No F4 5 6 or 7 . The headlight came on with F8, but in the wrong direction. No cab or engine room lights. I don't know if the problem is with the loco or the decoder. Thanks, Controller.

Hi Garfield, I will give that a try, and get back to you. Thank You, Controller.

Hi, I finally got a chance to put a EMD Sound Decoder (from IRM) in to my A class loco 018 (superb loco). F1,F2,and F3 work fine. F4,F5, F6 ,F7 and F13 are a no show. All the rest work fine. I am using a Gaugemaster Prodigy Advance controller. Someone tell me what I am doing wrong, please. Thanks, Controller.

Spot on, took 134 out of the box and compared it to the other two, much brighter. Controller.
-
Thanks for your replies. I have locos 125,131 and 134. Maybe the lights were meant to be like that, best left alone. Controller.
-
Hi, I am running the loco on DCC. I am afraid now that if I increase power to the bulb, I might blow it. It is a very small LED. Controller.

Hi, Is there a way to increase the brightness of the headlight on the MM121 loco?. At the moment it is very dull. Thanks, Controller.

Decoder for Plough van
controller replied to controller's question in DCC, Electrics and Electronics
Murphaph, Sorry about the confusion. I read the instructions again, that came with the van.(The PCB contains an eight-pin DCC decoder socket). When I bought the van from Marks, he told me they didn't have the right decoder, the only one he had was a wired one, and the wires would be seen hanging down in the compartment. That made me think that there was such a decoder without wires. Back to the drawing board. Thanks, Controller. -
Decoder for Plough van
controller replied to controller's question in DCC, Electrics and Electronics
Murphaph, I had a look at the decoder you suggested. I has everything I require, except that one is wired . The one I need is a eight pin direct connection. There is not much room in the van, and the wires would show. I will ask the lads in IRM if they have any, or maybe they can tell me where I can get the right one. Thanks, Controller. -

Decoder for Plough van
controller replied to controller's question in DCC, Electrics and Electronics
Thanks NIR, Again, good advice. I would have come to grief before I even started. Can the proper decoders be purchased online, EBay perhaps?. I could take a look, if I knew which one to buy. Better safe than sorry. Controller. -
Decoder for Plough van
controller replied to controller's question in DCC, Electrics and Electronics
Thanks Murphaph, It's always good to seek advice from the experts. I don't want to blow all the lights before I get a chance to enjoy them. Maybe IRM might have some, or know where to get them. Thanks Again, Controller. -
Decoder for Plough van
controller replied to controller's question in DCC, Electrics and Electronics
Thanks NIR, I don't have anything like that at the moment. I was just trying to avoid online, postal charges, Brexit etc. Marks Models were sold out when I bought the plough van and ballast wagons just after Christmas. I have one or two old decoders that may have light functions, but they are wired. Thanks, Controller. -
Where can I buy a decoder for the IRM plough van?. Thanks, Controller.

Thanks Wrenneire, Had a look at that, now to find a chip. Controller -
Can someone please tell me which decoder fits the IRM ballast plough van. I have removed the top part of the van without wrecking anything, but now I need help with where do I place the new decoder. Also where can I buy these decoders. Thanks, Controller

IRM ballast wagons and plough vans deal 375 euro
controller replied to controller's question in Questions & Answers
Thanks BosKonay, The minute I asked this question, I remembered that most of the money I have is in the form of vouchers for Marks Models. So for 325 euro (including vouchers) I will get six wagons and two plough vans. I will be happy enough with that for now. Thanks again Controller. -
IRM ballast wagons and plough vans deal 375 euro
controller posted a question in Questions & Answers
Hi. I have been looking at the IRM bundle pack nine wagons plus two plough vans for 375euro. Can someone tell me if these are authentic looking wagons and vans. They are from the era 1977-1987. I am planning to buy some plough vans and wagons. Is this bundle a good deal?. Thanks Controller. -
no sound after I double head 121
controller replied to controller's question in DCC, Electrics and Electronics
Thanks Lads, I think I will, as you advise, run the locos a lot more. If I got to the stage where I want to adjust CV5 or CV6 how do I find the speed settings in CV5 or 6?. I will only do this as a last resort. I am a little bit more confident in changing CVs after all your help. Controller
