The Royal Navy only has nineteen real warships today - but they still have 40 admirals and 260 people qualified to captain a vessel - a touch of top-heavy over-manning going on....
..a bit like the HSE so!

You would have to be very careful to remember where it was, or you might never find it again.
They have struggled to get them into service - it's all a bit 'new'. Might get one second-hand in a few years...?
the last time second hand ships were bought was in the charlie H era when Le Orla and Ciara were got from the British when scaling down their Hong Kong fleet - doubt it will ever happen again!
-
And half of them have been amongst the mods!
fran - we all know mod fights end up in a piss up:cheers:

There are distinct low-observability aspects to her - in visible, infra-red and radar modes + a very low magnetic signature - this is achieved by the use of modern composite materials and the physical shape of the vessel - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visby-class_corvette .
I doubt that our naval service will ever get one!

OK having watched the Hitler video on the other tread I now fully understand what happened and why the Mk3s were scrapped.
Reason = Financial incompetence on the part of government, IE and consultants = Insane waste of public capital investment

I would love to go back in time to the early 70's when trains were trains and when you heard one rattling away in the distance you had plenty of time to boil the kettle and have a brew before grabbing your ould camera and nipping down to the track to capture the glory of the roar of the sulzer thumping past with an assorted goods train, or an a class reving up with the morning train to the smoke.....and all that before going to school! boy, those were the days! I look back with great memories - I wonder what the little ones will think of the stock they see now in another 30 years?
