Darrman Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Finally. There's something about train journeys that makes me hungry while on board... 1
226 Abhann na Suire Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 https://www.irishtimes.com/ireland/2024/07/02/irish-rail-says-catering-service-to-return-to-intercity-lines-by-end-of-year/ Bit of light at the end of the proverbial tunnel at last! I wonder what the offerings will be… hot food would be a wonder for services, even just hot panini’s and sandwiches would be a huge step in the right direction maybe with actual meals available on peak hour intercity services that have a galley coach…? Overall though a positive piece of news! 2
DERAILED Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 Usual shambles expected. After a long time trying to find out about how the catering operates i.e. who pays who - it only relatively recently slipped out from Barry Kenny that IE actually pays an operator to provide the catering. Unreal, if they charged for the concession to run the catering - as was done in station buffets many, many years ago they might get something worthwhile. As it is, it will be back to the poison truck dispensing overpriced crap - when it can actually get down the overcrowded ICRs.
