Wexford70 Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 Hi folks, Could any of the knowledgeable group confirm that the signal indicator of the type shown below was used in Ireland? I believe it is a Sykes Pattern Home Signal Repeater in a mahogany case. I thought it may have been UK GWR but the signal arm would have been v shaped I believe. Is there any possibility it is from Northern Ireland? Thanks. Quote
minister_for_hardship Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 Used all over Ireland, Britain and further afield. No real way of knowing where it came from if not marked with a location. 1 1 Quote
Wexford70 Posted July 5, 2024 Author Posted July 5, 2024 Would I be correct in thinking red = home, yellow = distant? Quote
minister_for_hardship Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 In Ireland generally it is red (latterly hi vis orange) for both home and distant. In Britain it's red for home, yellow for distant although the GNR(I) also followed this convention. 1 Quote
