Wexford70 Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Hi all, I saw this post lamp for sale on eBay recently. I did not realise pot lamps had kerosene burners as the only ones I have seen I assumed were carbide lamps for some reason. Is the photo below likely to have been used in a railway carriage or a wagon such as a horse box? Any good source on lamps would be appreciated. Quote

Pot lamps were fuelled with colza oil, basically vegetable oil, before the petrol industry took off. Latterly, pot lamps were cascaded down to horsebox groom compartments when they had disappeared from passenger stock. The one in the pics may be Indian, I've seen the listing. Quote
