Seanw12 Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 I have some Peco track when my trains go over it my dcc select says OL any help? Quote
0 BosKonay Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Sounds like a short. I assume it's a point? Quote
0 irishthump Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 What exactly happens? Does everything stop ? Does it happen with every train or is it a particular loco/coach/wagon? Quote
0 Seanw12 Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 All my stuff my dcc select says OL Quote
0 irishthump Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 OL is definitely a short. It could be the wheels bridging the gap between the rails, does it happen as soon as the first set of wheels crosses the point? Where exactly does it occur? It would help if you could tell us if it's and insulfrog or electrofrog point. Quote
0 Seanw12 Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 Insulfrog.the second the train gets on to the track Quote
0 irishthump Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Do you have insulated (plastic) joiners on the two tracks leading away from the frog? Like in this diagram... Quote
0 irishthump Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 By the way from which direction is the train approaching the point when this happens? Quote
0 Seanw12 Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 Coming like it was going to turn off for the side Quote
0 irishthump Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 You need to take the little clips off the point. Quote
0 Seanw12 Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 If you mean the electro clips I did and it's still the same Quote
0 BosKonay Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 In your photo, you have what look like Hornby "DCC" clips inserted into the point. See the small thin metal 'wires'? You should be able to pop them out with the blade of a screwdriver, you should be ok then. Quote
0 BosKonay Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Also, the frog should be fully isolated - so make sure you have insulated joiners on both frog connections like this image Quote
0 irishthump Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Take off the clips and put the plastic railjoiners on the tracks leading from the frog like in the diagram. Quote
0 Seanw12 Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 I'm a bit stupid at this but I still don't know what to do Quote
0 BosKonay Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Take the clear plastic rail joiner on the bottom left rail and move it up to the frog. Then join the point up to your layout using regular metal joiners on all the other rails. Quote
0 irishthump Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Move the joiner in the circle to the rail with the other circle. Quote
0 irishthump Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 And as Bosko said make sure you put metal joiners on all the other rails. Quote
