  1. Is the lack of  (mainline connected) brachlines / industrial lines and industrial locos part of the problem also? Running large mainline locos only on the main and all the standards that requires is a massive expense and bureaucratic nightmare of compliance.

Whereas running a much smaller steam or diesel shunter is far easier from a cost / maintenance / skills / time point of view and if you are on your own brachline that does not need to meet mainline standards and require IE bureaucratic standards and trained driver costs and availability.

As far as I'm aware ITG, RPSI don't and can't run their own trains on their own lines (since they don't effectively have any apart from yards) so there is no 'cheap and simple' solution to run trains.

That is the only reason we can run our stock out of Waitara. we own 7km of track, have a perpetual $1 per year lease of the corridor from NZ rail, own our own shunting locos to run trains and have safety and infrastructure requirements far below mainline standard. $20 a ticket (€10.50) for 14km round trip of about 80 minutes means its a cheap and reasonably short (for kids) period where the enjoyment doesn’t really start to move towards boredom.

  2. Bachmann 2700 Class DMU (UK class 158 in reality I think it is). Has been a shelf queen for the last few years and I want to move it on as not era appropriate for me. DC. Test runs OK but otherwise never run. No Box. €120

Bachmann class 24. Lightly home weathered with poweders but should wash off. Runs good and has seen some limited running but boxed for the last couple of years. Accessories bits included. DCC decoder included, just a basic Hornby one iirc. Body screws are missing to hold body to chassis but it is clip tight. €60

Models available in Belfast from 01/07-04/07, West Clare for the next 3-4 days and Dublin until 19/07. Cash and pickup/drop off preferred but could look to arrange delivery once over in Ireland. Please let me know by 21/06 if of interest otherwise I will not bring them home with me.

  4. why would you even want a standard gauge setup in Ireland? 🫣

NZ is an interesting comparison as there a lots of preserved railway all over the place even though the population is comparable to Ireland but the geography is equivalent to the UK, but there's a clear UK mindset on preserved railways that has made it over here but has not made it in Ireland to the same extent and it's in the mindset of the population to support and travel on these and the multiple mainline runnings that are done.

We run a 7km branchline out of Waitara, a tiny town on the edge of a small provincial city and can still make the numbers work running 2 runs every 2nd sunday, there's no real reason why similar should not be possible out of say Galway which is comparable population wise yet I just don't see it happening in Ireland. Don't know why though, lack of general public interest??, crippling insurance costs?? lack of volunteers??

There really is absolutely no need for comments like that.

I withdraw the remark and apologise as it was made in frustration in the spur of the moment.

If a mod wants to edit it out please do so, or leave it, whichever is preferred.

Its pretty frustrating though to have been told to have to move to a non-EU based entity for future orders, for none of the IRM points or milestones to transfer over, for the pricing to dramatically change and now a week later still not have any reply to my email to support...

  6. Just checked my order based on the above.

Original order Inc freight was €859.36, now showing on accurascale as €1,039.36, a 21% increase!

Fuck me, that's shady as hell.

Bulk discount has disappeared and unit price has gone from 56.90 to 62.46 per unit

These are a wonderful product. I didn’t expect you would choose these given how few were on the network. The Enterprise is a great train with a rich history, and now I will have something to head my Mark IIs, below. I do love the uniqueness of the maroon and hope some maroon coaches may be in the future. I’ll try to order one of each.

A bit off topic but where does that display come from please?

Its really smart with the full lenght.

  8. Seems a bit of an odd choice versus the original DART for example. (I know there is a bespoke manufacturer of these though)

Hope it goes well for him but not one for me this time.

Edit: could really do with updating the website about it and a launch like IRM do... difficult to actually find out anything about it if you weren't at the show.

  9. Some facebook comments saying its not quite original livery, whats the difference? I am going to presume its just the door being yellow rather than black at the front?

Good on IE for doing more retro liveries, this looks fantastic.

Bit of a cluster, same thing happened with the 141s button many times. Don’t need to be clearing caches instead of choosing models

seems to be a firefox thing, worked for me on edge, would never load the pre-order button on firefox

At the bottom of the email is another link to add to basket for multiple orders, you can do that for each email you get and buy them all together.

    Blatantly obvious in hindsight, thanks

  12. I can't seem to get my 2x locos to convert to a single preorder, following the link from emails will only load 1 to cart and bump the other off.

How can I get both into the one transaction?
