  1. Loving those Galteemore , need to get the baseboard first , problem is everyone wants to sell me an 8 X 4 sheet , they're willing to cut it (for a fee of course)  but then I'm left with the rest and we only have a Nissan Micra 🙄 , off to B & Q tomorrow to ask for any offcuts.

  2. OK , I'm thinking seriously about starting a small N Gauge project along the lines of Rorgyle by Brant Hickman. Been on me mind for weeks now and I've decided to make a start , Rorgyle is an end to end only 8 inches wide but I like the idea of a wider baseboard probably 4 foot long X 2 foot wide to run continuous trains with a bay platform at the station and a siding into a goods shed for storing wagons and coaches.  The canal lock and a bridge  DAPR-N Gauge Model Railway Scenery Building Kit - Narrow Boat Canal Lock/Gates - Picture 5 of 8and a Faller bridge are on thier way 41Ex-VkQQ3L._AC_SX425_.jpgTried to make a start on scratch building the lock keepers cottage this morning (DON'T ASK)  it was a disaster , don't remember if I mentioned it to ye but I only have one good arm, the left one,  no bicep muscle in right one due to muscle wastage (Accident years ago) so I'm restricted as to what I can do , OO scratch building is fine but N is out of the question, just too small even with glasses, me binoculars would have been better.  Anyway wish me luck lads , I'll keep ye updated , and NO don't mention the Rugby !!!!  😕  😕

  4. All gluing left to set overnight, now like concrete, today has turned into a "fixing things I've been putting off fer too long" scenario, broken signal (my fault) boat in harbour needed re-gluing, ballast in trucks needed diluted PVA to stop it spilling as did coal in staithes. Riley the cat is secured to the scratch post in chains bless him :dancing:

  5. Quick one just in case anyone is interested ...... Made a set of buildings recently and I included a ships chandler , decided to give it a hollow chimney with no capping or pots, 2cm gap at bottom.  Got some incense cones complete with round metal base, glued base underneath chimney, lit cone and it works beautifully, hardly any heat in metal base as it only gives off smoke not flame and has proved safe , and it makes the model room smell nice , the aroma  was called Angels Breath !!!  How the hell does anyone know what Angels Breath smell like ??  Couldn't find any Beamish and Madras Curry ones !!  🤣 🤣 🤣

  6. Ahh , Thanks commerlad , It's all a lot clear now after that Info.   The reason fer the question was I ordered some pre-owned bits n pieces from Hattons in London on Friday last, they came yesterday, have to say very quick delivery via DHL , superb packaging and grand customer service, some of the stuff was just missing the original boxes and were like brand new, 3 X 4 wheel GWR composites, GWR autocoach with installed lighting just missing 1 buffer and a handrail, (easy fix)  A crimson and cream coach , 2 X Trams , and packs of figures X 6 that were £2 each !!   I toyed with the idea of replacing my OO track for OO9 or N gauge to accommodate my tight curves and then thought that all my rolling stock would have to be altered , Don't think I'll go down that route now though coz of the cost and hassle.  Had to chip off a couple of bits of rock face on the cutting to run the longer coaches but all went fine , making a few extra market stalls today fer my town centre outa cocktail sticks and spare coloured canopy's from a metcalfe kit , If Riley the cat would stay off the Kitchen table I'd finish a lot quicker.

  7. Hi lads, been busy and apologies fer me absence lately, quick question , does anyone know a way of converting OO gauge rolling stock to run on OO9 gauge track ? Is it just the wheel / axel spacing that has to be altered or the whole chassis ?  Answers on a postcard please or e-mail confusedasf**k@cobh.ie.

  8. Decided to utilise the space on the right with above building and the previous one (Cheeky Bugger Pub, Tobacco Shop and Gus O'Connors) by grouping them at right angles to each other and demolishing a small hill (The cows weren't impressed and the digger hire cost a fortune) It's raised above existing track by 12cm,  now after 4 days work of measuring so that the trains passed under OK, cutting, painting, waiting for glue to set and quite a few other bits n pieces It's complete.  Looking good , Pics will follow when I have a bit more time, Impromptu gig with the band later and a few complimentary Beamish from Keiron the owner, update soon

  10. Christ on a Bike, this is sooooooooooo complicated, a few tweaks I think  😕

Hold my hands up and surrender, something similar I think, have to admit this one is way too beyond my capabilities, still gonna press on though, watch this space for breaking news.

  11. BTW , still can't get tablet to pair with laptop so ordered a digital camera from guess where ?  Amazon !!!!   Coming Wednesday with 32mb storage card and USB connection, 18X Zoom, Macro, Auto Focus and 3" screen, only €45, all reviews are good so I'll give it a lash.

  12. Right, Next project, gonna attempt this beauty, I may be some time on this one, it'll look a lot better than the engine shed which is where it's going to be placed when I've built it.  OMG where to put the engine shed ????   Oh well...............................  🙄

  13. OK Derek will do, station access is now from the other end as it clears room at the harbour end for coal and water platform, bus stop moved to top road and ticket office with steps leading down to platform built, track altered so I can now accommodate two trains.

  14. WOW, looking good, we should be doing that against sides like Romania (no disrespect meant) , bonus point and awesome performances by the likes of Aki, Sexton, Mahony, the whole team actually. Well impressed but lineouts still need sorting    COYBIG  🇮🇪  :dancing:

  15. Moved topic to Irish Model Layouts, decided to change the name to Murphy's Wharf (feels more personal y'know ?) although me mothers maiden name was O'Connell,  the wooden spoon will be out in Heaven when she get's wind of this, sorry Mam.  Shan't bother repeating the pics, if anyone missed them they're in General Chat under the " I'm Back" title.  Spent all day yesterday finishing little jobs I've been putting off for weeks, gaps along elevated sections of roads that needing filling with retaining walls, chimney pots I'd knocked off leaning over stuff etc etc,  Pictures soon of latest updates.  Made some decent fencing out of painted matchsticks and brass strip that I had left off a huge pirate ship I built earlier on this year, named it Grace O'Malley after the notorious Irish female pirate,  must post an off subject pic of her someday she has coloured remote control lighting and took 4 months to build.  Got a new loco arriving tomorrow A Lima HL 2314 tank, tall chimney very much Narrow Gaugey, I'm sure I must have

    shares with Amazon by now.
