  1. Couldn't resist 203 in original livery for renumbering to the class leader which I only have with the full yellow ends (which are not really right for 1995). Bargain given what they go for these days. Cheers lads, from a happy vulture.

  2. It's also the case that some people are being encouraged to part with their sole MM loco that they bought for the novelty value when they cost €100 or whatever. Many people never moved from modelling GB outline to Irish but did buy the MM locos when they came out for the novelty value. There must be quite a few of these locos knocking around still and these folks will not be interested in a swap at all. There are probably many MM locos owned by people who aren't even in the hobby anymore, they would also have no interest in a swap. I would focus on finding one for sale rather than a swap as you have the easier to sell examples that go for the most money 😉

  3. Yeah a lovely afternoon and only down the road so very handy. The Deltic was on static display so no fear of it rolling off the edge thankfully! The husband and wife displaying it are actually from near to where I live and they had several other GB items on display. They were even familiar with Sam's Trains lol. He has a very broad audience!

To be honest I have never really been interested in the larger scales. I always considered OO the upper limit but man, that RC live steam really has something. I don't want to know what those locos cost but "several A classes" probably just about covers it. A nice idea for a garden railway some day maybe.

  4. A few random images and videos (including a Deltic from a well known Irish manufacturer 😉 ) from my local model fair today. The event is annual and attracts some local clubs including the layout from the local comprehensive school here in our town (Brieselang). Hope you enjoy the images.

  5. The Irish Rail and IE ones are the most desirable if you ask me. If you can't find a swap partner, just sell them for the going rate and buy the black ones you want. Is PM releasing any black ones this year? If so, you could sell them now for good money then buy the black ones and renumber any duplicates (much easier than a full respray!)

I suspect you will find a swap partner for both locos to be honest.

1 & 2 are a wee bit too late or much too early for me but 4-7 I would certainly be in the market for!

with most of these brands its the exact same product but in a different can. and that includes the dealz/poundland stuff thats 1.49 a can,  the dealz stuff however comes in an underfilled can with a terrible spray nozzle that clogs itself up for the fun of it.

Rumor has it that if you take a spray nozzle from one of these more expensive cans and put it onto the dealz can then the quality achieved from the dealz jobbie is increased significantly.

You can also buy "low pressure" spray nozzles that release less paint than the standard ones. They cost buttons on eBay. I tried this first before just abandoning rattle cans.

  8. For that sort of money you can get an awful lot of primer for the airbrush and it lasts much longer as most of it ends up on the model rather than flying past it. I stopped priming with rattle cans once I realised how expensive it is. Just a thought but I don't want to disrupt the thread so carry on 🙂

  10. I picked up the 40' Hanjin 8'6 and the 20' DAL 8'6 dry boxes in Marks the other day. I mainly wanted the Hanjin but I'm wondering does anyone know for sure if such a DAL container ever ran in Ireland?

  11. This is true. The original price paid by a seller is unknown. Not everyone was able to buy at the original retail price. I recently sold a few bits and also had to factor in the fact I paid sterling with no rake discount + Vat + handling charges + post to Germany for them.

Ah I wouldn't expect anyone to sell anything to me for less than market value, especially in these inflationary times. Who knows what financial pressure sellers are under these days.
