Caught a few ICRs and 074 On the Laden Timber today. Skip to 2:00 if it's only the timber you're interested in I'm pretty sure it was ex-Claremorris as Westport was congested. [video=youtube;IMK7S5bv-YI]

Got 088 wearing the new grey/yellow freight livery on the "DFDS" CPW Liner this morning.

Can't fault anything, it's perfect in every way; just great to look at! You have done a fantastic job here modelling the station, it obviously took a lot of time and effort but the payoff here is immense. Really looking forward to more photos!

I think it's a bit of both really I'll give you that one! Yeah, I just hope this freight-flow lasts long enough for that to become a familiar sound, you can never tell though!

I was waiting there at the triangle for the steam engine to maneuver around the loop, attach to the coaches and haul the coaches to Dublin by itself so when I saw that the 461 was itself being hauled by 082 it was a big surprise. It was a bad day for the RPSI alright. It's strange that 082 didn't haul the 461 into Connolly, I suppose it will have to be relieved by a separate loco tomorrow.

Got my footage anyway, stood for about 2 hours in drizzly conditions due to a delay but the sun came out for the shots, I like the second shot here it's an 071 Class (082) Hauling the steam engine and craven coaches back to Dublin: RPSI 461 + Cravens Passing Lavistown: 071 Hauling 461 Back To Dublin: The 071 also stopped on the loop and I got great footage of it which will be uploaded soon

Alright, got you now. Thanks for explaining I didn't even think a diesel would be required at first but it will make a good video. Myself and a friend recently filmed an 071 on the Lavistown Loop and it has to go really slow as it maneuvers between lines so it'll be great to get the diesel, steam and cravens together in the one day. I'm trying to make up for the loss of freight on the Waterford line as well as the recent cutting down on timber workings.

Oh one final thing just to clarify, sorry for all the questions! Have I got the following right? The steam train will be arriving as far as the lavistown loop line where it will then be shunted into kilkenny via diesel, and same thing on the way back just from kilkenny to lavistown. Thanks again!

Thanks for that info lads, much appreciated The diesel is a good bonus! And so is the weather (as warbonnet said), well its meant to be a good day anyway so the least we can do is hope Does anyone know how many craven coaches it will be hauling?

Thanks for that info snapper and garfielsghost So I'll have a chance of catching both the diesel (hopefully 201, as they are rare occurrences around Kilkenny) and steam engine at the loop/triangle? If so it'll be a good bit of footage !

Hoping to get some footage of it before it reaches Kilkenny near the Lavistown Loop. Does anyone know if it's going to be hauled by a diesel loco on the way back or will it go back as is? Thanks and cheers for the info csalem, I see it's sold out!

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah hornby is pretty simple but I think I have enough experience now to take my track modeling skills up a notch. I also noticed the rigidness of it, I suppose it's okay as a starter track most of the time. Have you ever encountered derailment problems or the like on your peco streamline track?

Yep all Joeuf. I sort of went into a phase of continental european modeling (mostly French but some German as well) but then quickly went back to Irish stuff as new Irish models were being released!

Hello everyone, I just have a question regarding track for model layouts. Would you recommend hornby track or peco track for running Irish models? On my old basic layout I only used hornby track as that was the only track I knew of at the time but now that I've decided to build a more advanced larger layout (having seen other modellers on the site use the peco streamline track) I'm beginning to think that maybe it's time to move to peco. How do you think the two brands compare when it come to reliability, appearance, build quality and easiness to work with because those are the qualities I want in my new layout. I myself have found that some of my locos don't like hornby track, especially when it comes to points. Any help and feedback as well as advice is appreciated. Thanks all.
