Purpose built, all loco, they generated power for the train systems ie electricity for lighting, for cooking etc.

For the UK versions,
The ho guage wagons would require widening, larger bodies and a hell of lot of filling and scraping. Height wise their lower than the ifi ones.
If all that takes your fancy I have 2 of them you can sort out for me;)

Excellent, really like that line how they ever found a route is beyond me. The line to the suir viaduct was only dismantled recently, the bridge still has track in it but is detiorating really quickly, from the bridge to the old junction the formation is in really good Nick, the narrow guage section comes from the old waterford west station there seems to be the remains of a signal cabin on the right hand side of the junction, from Kilmeadan to kildermody there is s few placed were the. Line is accessible but only for a few metres each time.From Carroll cross to kilmac the line is very accessible the only major breach is next to the old sprinkled were the n25 cuts through the formation, kilmac station and fir a few miles through to mg grath crossroads, from here the line us hit and miss whether or which. you can access the formation. There is plans by Waterford county council to make most of the route into a walk way.

I could check it out later for you if you want, im trying to remember were I saw pics of it on the net though.it's hard to believe they managed to pull the wreckage of 189 up that incline to the side of the viaduct.

The last passengers was an IRRS munster branch special to Ballinhassig on October 28th 1964 hauled by 210th.
The scrap price for a Bandon tank was 500 pounds and delivered from inchicore was 700 pounds .
The furthest west the black and tan liveried 201's got was Drimoleague Nov 1962.

209, 207, 219, 201 all in black and tan worked the lifting trains on the West Cork as well as the others mentioned, Bandon tanks 463 and 463 were regulars till Feb 63. The bantry pier was lifted before closure on the 31/3/61 but the Rest of the line was left alone till April 62 due a court case taken by James P O Regan. Lifting started in Bantry on April 9th, by November the Courtmac line was fully lifted, by x mas the bantry line was lifted as far as Drimoleague, by the end of 63 it wad after been lifted as far as Ballineen, by the end of 64 Waterfall had been done. By Feb chetwynd had been lifted, march spur hill and pouladuff had been lifted, the final section to High street bridge was cleared by April 1965.Crossbarry to Ballinhassig was lifted by Aherla lime works, Courtmacsherry to Inchy bridge used a rail tractor as well as most of the clonakilty line, the Rest of the lines were lifted conventually.Progress was slow due to reballasting across the lines in the previous years before closure. Des, I may have what your looking for its an rectangle with triangles on the top and bottom, the "rectangle" has writing on it but its heavily weathered. I don t have access to a scanner but I can give you a loan of the photo if thats anygood.
