To my mind contents are contents. What's the difference between me having (say) 6 TVs or 6 071s in the house? There is no comparison to a work of art (even though the model is) which increases in value and would be attractive to a thief.

The OP on this thread stated his intention to market his model and asked for comments and feedback. Anto gave his (highly informed)
opinion on the model. ie: he did'nt think the workmanship and materials involved was indicative of the high price tag, a view held
by a lot of other people.
No offence, but the old "well lets see you do better" response really does'nt add anything to the arguement.
I think that sums up the position nicely.

Aren't the individual items covered by home contents insurance? A model railway isn't one item but a sum of the parts.

You just have to take a deep breath and do it - no hessitation. It will work if you follow the advice above and ensure the handrails are disconnected from the cabs.

Care to expand on this?
The replacement of loco hauled trains.

Didn't the M class start the Expressway concept? They were magnificent vehicles in their day.

well done conor.......poor old 192 - she could do with a wash
Looks like it was caught up in hurricane Sandy!

I have to say that I like the look of the 22xxx railcars but am not happy with the main line role they are playing.

First short video from the show - Letterkenny layout part 1
Letterkenny is a great model, especially for those of us with a love for the "Wee Donegal".

The Bachmann chip only works the side lights on and off (F0), #1 end cab light(F2), and the rear lights on and off (F1). The main head light's don't work with the Bachmann decoder along with the #2 end cab light. Has any one tried a Lenz silver in the loco.
Have you tried the TCS 21 pin decoder?
-
Yes you have to remove the entire centre body to get at the
Decoder pins.It is very handy though especially when
compared to the song and dance to open the body's on
the 141s.
But not as easy as the 201s?

Great atmosphere at the show today. Some very good modelling displayed and plenty of trade support.

Good to know.

I wish you were too, Leslie.

An item is only worth what someone is willing to pay.

This really gives the word "print" a new meaning. Isn't English a very flexible language.

No 171 Appeal stand at Raheny?
-
Interestingly that price matches Hattons including postage from UK.

Using a railway locomotive to tear up railway track must be akin to cannibalism.

Can't say I am surprised that Trap is staying on. Let's hope he can turn things around in 2013.

Did anyone ask him if he would allow bids from Ireland? He can change the settings if he is willing to.

God I'm sick of that shower winning the all-ireland. We need change!!!!!!!!!!!
You cannot have enough of a good thing . Change will come though, maybe when Brian Coady retires?
It would have been strange if Galway had won the All Ireland as Leinster champions.

It just wouldn't sit right with any Murphy's Models equipment no matter what the price.

I suppose the one fact that I didn't mention yesterday, and which has been haunting me since, is that 41 lives could have been saved had the emergancy services responded properly.
Resistance is futile

I didn't say anything was bad. I was just expressing a preference for loco hauled main line trains as an enthusiast not a passenger.
