Working out viewing angles today as i continue my research into 21mm gauge. Unsure as to which side i should put the back scene on, any help would be greatly appreciated. 124+134 double head a short per way train from Kingscourt bound for Drogheda.

Hi All, Some of you may remember my previous post on here about my "Moathill PWD" layout, which was based on a stub of the former Navan to Kingscourt line. Unfortunately due to a number of factors I had to dismantle it and start from scratch (again). That layout isn't dead in the water however, as I plan to incorporate both it and this new layout into a much larger project in the future. This new layout is based on the level crossing on the Commons road in Navan. My dad used to bring me there when I was a child in the mornings on my way to school, where we would catch the morning tara mines train passing through. It's my first memory of real life railway goings on, and brings back many fond memories. The layout is even smaller than Moathill, at 4ft x 1ft with only a 2x1 scenic section, however there will be 2ft fiddle yard extensions either end, to allow more accurate trains to pass through. It will be set between 1964 and 2009, allowing me to run gypsum, Taras, per way, and a collection of liveries and different locos. I plan on using dcc to add to the atmosphere, and I'm also researching about converting my existing stock to 21mm gauge, to make it as accurate as possible. baseboard is complete, next is track laying! Hi all, wondering if anyone would have any knowledge on what would be the best donor models for the above DMU classes, particularly the 2750. And also any chassis that would be easy to convert to 21mm, or would i be better making a custom chassis?

Locos will be sound fitted, its the reason im trailing dcc cause its a micro layout which doesnt have much thats visually appealing, i thought sound would enhance the atmosphere.

I agree, probably closer to 15 once you get it moved!

Thought Id update this topic given it's been a couple of months since the last one. Nearly two months ago the NTA shot down the idea of passenger trains returning to the branch, as stated in this article here. https://www.lmfm.ie/news/lmfm-news/nta-rules-out-reopening-of-navan-drogheda-rail-line/ With this in mind, I do think it is the best possible choice if we were to ever have a broad gauge heritage railway south of the border. It ticks 99% of the boxes required, as @jhb171achill mentioned which i will respond to with answers to the criteria they listed. 1A. Navan is 51km away, a 50 minute to an hour drive from Dublin City Centre. 2A.Navan has enough space on the site for between 30-40 parking spaces, however arrangements could be made with the LMETB next door to use their carpark as an overflow on weekends. Navan also has good access for a low loader to bring rolling stock in, as well as a mainline connection. 3A. Navan station has ample space, the former goods shed could be converted into a 3 road maintenance shed, and the former gantry crane spur could be covered to house coaches. 4A. Navan to Beauparc is roughly 5 miles, which at the lines current speed limit of 25mph, we will say it takes a train roughly 20 minutes to arrive, meaning a round trip is roughly 40 minutes. 5A. Navan is a heritage town with many sites and attractions to see, all within walking distance of the train station. Beauparc is a short drive to slane castle or newgrange, both hugely popular tourist attractions in the north east. There could be a package deal done where customers can get on a heritage train in navan, travel to beauparc where they then can get a coach to either slane castle or newgrange, with these tours included in the package price.

Shame if thats true, some good stock that Im sure our numerous 3ft gauge railways would take. I presume if theirs no listing its a brown envelope job? Unfortunately, I do agree that it probably cant be saved, if if is if would be a very expensive project
