  1. Well I have to say it's very good. At first I thought it was about Sheriff Street .....
  2. These were around in the old Fotopic days and are gradually being made available again on the new system. I've had a few prints from this collection using SmuMug and they are certainly good enough quality for modelling needs and reference. Not sure what the quality would be like for large sizes though.

(Hope not!)
  4. Not working for me either. Hopefully it will sometime .....
  5. The fifth, and final, part of Martin Bairtstow's work on The Railways of Ireland, covering the CB&SCR and Cork areas (amongst others) has now been published and can be purchased direct through ebay (certainly here in the UK) - enter item number 271087906238 in the search box. I've ordered a copy today and had confirmation it's been despatched already.
  6. My kit arrived today and first impressions are very favourable. The etchings look stunning and the chassis one is in nickel silver, the rest being brass. Rather than massive amounts of rivetting, overlays with the rivets etched on are provided but they are very thin so care will be needed when sweating on. Flexichas is designed-in although it can be built rigid, again showing a good degree of forethought. What will be interesting to see is what the clearances are in the 'traditional' back-of-the-crosshead-and-cylinder areas when erecting the chassis for P4 21mm gauge. A lot of work has gone into this kit, and a lot will be required to build and get the best out of it. But it has that look and feel of being a queue-jumper which is positive. There are some etched kits that go straight back in the box, and then to the back of the queue. Not this one!
  7. Usually the 'majority' of the employees up to senior management level simply transfer into the new franchisee, just as they did on privatisation. The new franchisee needs the highest level of existing knowledge to get their feet under the table and continue seemless operations. They'll probably have a few units repainted and rebranded ready for the press at handover time but strip the existing branding and logos from rest until they too are repainted. The leasing companies will proably just deal with the same individuals but the phone answering will say a different name. The only real comparison will be several years down the line making like-for-like judgements very difficult
  8. The two West Cork dvd's are out of stock at the UK supplier who also said when I spoke with them last week that they probably won't be producing any more. But I did manage to get the set from The Model Railway Village at Clonakilty who kindly posted them to me (in the UK).
