  2. I don't think it's the most up-to-date rule book, but I also think there's a piece in UK legislation that says these kind of things have to be published.

For example, the entire mainland UK Working Time Table is published online: https://www.networkrail.co.uk/running-the-railway/timetabling/working-timetable/

    The Railway Safety Standards Board handles the rule book in its 14,000 pieces as well, plus some interesting standards https://www.rssb.co.uk/railway-group-standards#!#Default={"k":"","r":[{"n":"rgsolDocumentStatus","t":["\"ǂǂ4c697665\""],"o":"OR","k":false,"m":{"\"ǂǂ4c697665\"":"Live"}}]}

  3. The end of regular loco hauled trains must be close. I understand IR would like to remove all 201 locos from high speed running

No such thing has been mentioned. The only things related to 201s is sanding and re-engineering (the refurb programme). Likely not to be replaced.

Those who were present at a meeting in the Irish Railway Record Society in March will have heard some of the potential plans for the 8200 fleet, as well as the general strategy rolling-stock wise. And loco hauled (or rather push/pull) is likely to stay for some time

  4. 7107 - 36F / 36S

    7147 - 72S

    7157 - 64F

    By January 2007, they were:

    7107 - 64S

    7147 - 64S with wheelchair

    7157 - 64S

    I'll dig out 2004 tomorrow

  5. I'll have to have a dig but I do have some typical formations from 2004 on a day trip from the UK (same for 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008) that may be of help. Will have them later on, and I'll also check out the seating capacities

I do not think the Executive coaches were ever used in regular service. If they were attached to a service train it may have been more of convinence than anything else

  6. Good evening all,

I've been a bit lax in posting here on the last month or so, so this large post will make amends to that!

First off was the National Steam Rally in Stradbally. Whilst I was volunteering, there was the chance or two to get some interesting photos!

Moving on to other Luas photos, 18 August marked the start of fully signalled testing on the new Luas Cross City line, although not without a few issues!

On 29 August I ended up in Limerick Junction, changing trains having come from Waterford. Luckily for me Retro liveried 073 was standing with a battered 086 on PW duties

On 30 August I visited Dundalk and M3 Parkway as part of work and then got a few photos in Connolly and Park West whilst heading home. The main attraction at Dundalk were the stored RPSI Gatwick Express Mark 2's, the first time I have been able to see them up close.

  7. Good afternoon all,

The allocated 071-class loco for the Belmond Grand Hibernian this weekend was freshly repainted and released 073, in the 1987 livery. I knew nothing about this, but timed my arrival at Heuston to co-incide with the Belmond shunts. I was pleased to see it alright!

  8. Good evening all,

I've uploaded a selection of photos from this year's Irish Railway Record Society tour to Howth and Sligo. A day no without it's troubles!

Booked loco 081 failed before departure with a bad oil leak. Loco 075 was then used from Connolly to Howth. Due to the signalling and infrastructure layout at Howth, Enterprise 227 hauled the train back to Connolly, providing the rare chance of a 201 on the Howth line.

Due to operational reasons, 075 could not carry on the tour to Sligo, so (at one point) 227 was nominated for the trip to Sligo, which would have been the first passenger 201 to Sligo and only the second under it's own power. However, 085 was sourced from Inchicore and provided power to Sligo.

All in all, a great day out and a good catch up with a few friends I haven't seen for a while. Many thanks to all involved who made the day happen, from those visible to those in the background months before

  9. Ah - I was looking at the link you posted! No problem!

First coach in that formation (201+Galway Mk2's) looks to be 5411 (buffet). Second last vehicles looks to be a composite, as there is something braking up the livery
