Hi lads,
Long shot, but anyone selling cement bubbles?
Which livery do you want (any idea what they are worth per set)?

Alphagraphix? A kit of a 141 for £6... in 7mm. ALPHAGRAPHIX_IRISH_RAILWAYS
I assembled one as a static display in 2007 with the then novel DCC soundchip pioneered by Mr Soundguy and showed it at the SDMRC exhibition before the first batch of Murphy Models 141/181s were issued!

Great news Irishrailwayman, fantastic pictures & layout - I looked on your club website yesterday and couldn't see any reference ?.
I will definitely be there, probably Sunday. One of my very favourite shows.
I'm no longer on the Committee but I think the Facebook page is kept up to date rather than the website. Looking forward to meeting everyone for a chat at "Ballybeg" (the layout was first exhibited in 2009 - this will be it's 12th public exhibition!).

"Ballybeg" is booked for the Wexford Exhibition on 5th and 6th May 2024. It will be run in a "Modern Image" version featuring CIE "Supertrain" stock one day and Irish Rail "IR" rolling stock on the second day.

I have "Ballybeg" down in the workroom to prepare it as a "modern image" version for the Wexford Exhibition in May 2024. I have (temporarily) substituted the "steam era" cattle-dock, goods shed, engine shed, water tower etc with a diesel shed (borrowed from my "Diesel Depot" layout!) as well as tower lights and a new CIE oil storage facility. I plan to show a selection of "Supertrain" liveried passenger and freight trains on the Sunday of the exhibition and to show "IR" liveried trains on the Monday. I have fitted DCC controlled rural scenic sound modules also which give background birdsong, church bells, cows, sheep etc to set the scene.

Leslie,
You are very welcome, weekend went well and very positive comments have been received - a big thank you to our sponsors - Irish Railway Models , to all the trade and exhibitors and the general public for attending - all the traders were happy with the weekend which is good to hear.
To Last Lap Cafe for feeding the public - this went down a storm. , as we were not able to provide refreshments to the public in previous years.
I have made my list of improvements for the next show in 2025.
Thank you to everyone who have supported our show over the years.

Thanks to everyone who came along to the Wexford Autumn Exhibition - we were very pleased with the turnout and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves hugely. See you again in Wexford for the Spring Exhibition 2024 on Sunday 5th May and Bank Holiday Monday 6th May 2024!
Wexford MRC will be at the South Dublin Exhibition 2023 with newly refurbished "Scully's Dock" featuring early CIE Diesel trains among other liveries.

Hello,
Having completed, and learned so much, from my small scale Diorama, ("IKEA shelf Layout" - Irish Model Layouts), I'm at the planning stage of my larger layout. I plan to use extruded polystyrene board, amongst other material, for the basic scenic foundations and then proceed to more subtle topographical landscape formation (I used multi purpose polyfilla last time which was just ok - on top of the excellent woodland scenics plaster cloth). I have read/observed many modellers use "sculptamold" for this purpose, but I've not been able to identify any suppliers here in Ireland. Can anyone inform me of a source in Ireland, or indeed a suitable appropriate alternative.
Thank you, George.
Extruded polystyrene (XPS-100 or 300) works well and can be carved with a knife or hot-wire cutter. Wexford MRC used it for their O gauge "Little Siddington" with wall plaster as a top coat. This is very tough and ideal for the job being available from any DIY outlet.

Great to hear that John Walker is still producing fine work after all those years, first came across John's work with his Ballinagee Layout over 40 years ago, the the time there was virtually no commercial support for Irish modelling, buildings, structurers, locos and stock were mainly scratchbuilt or heavily modified rtr.
The main exceptions would have been the Woolwich (Wills whitemetal kit) and re-painted Palitoy LMS corridor coaches, the steam locos which included ex-DSER 0-6-0 442 and ex-WLWR 2-4-0 290 (Enniscorthy Pilot Loco) were built in plasticard with Arfix tender drive and scratchbuilt non-powered loco chassis
Lovely to see pictures of "Ballinagee". It features in Railway Modeller back in the 1980's too. John's layouts including "Rathmichael", "MacMine Junction" and "Scully's Dock" have all garnered awards and plaudits over the years. They are now being carefully conserved by Wexford MRC and will feature in the exhibition circuit each year in rotation.

Rathmichael stunning layout
"Rathmichael" was on the exhibition circuit last year after some refurbishment. WMRC plan to do some work on "MacMine Junction" for next year's round of exhibitions. We are almost ready with a revamp of "Scully's Dock" and this will be shown at the Wexford Autumn Exhibition and at the South Dublin MRC Exhibition in October. All three layouts were made by John Walker.

Very many thanks indeed to all who came today - especially to Irishrailwayman, the Wexford Model Railway Club, Eamonn Redmond and others who helped organise it and gave Barry and I such a great welcome.
It was great to put faces to several names from this parish.
Thanks also to Gerry for a tour of Wexford’s best layouts both at home and in the club.
I will be posting some pictures under “layouts” of Ballybeg, Macmine, Rathmichael and Welsh-themed layouts. Truly excellent stuff, and I’m looking forward to seeing them in action at shows in the not too distant future.
