  1. Great story about the Fintona tram. Believe it or not my father was one of the hangers-on that day!! Word had got out that the tram would be passing through Omagh and a crowd of local people gathered to see it. At Omagh they were allowed to board the tram for a short trip along the platform, most going up to the top deck. Suddenly there was much shouting and arm waving from the footplate when it was realised that the standing passangers on the top deck might not make it under the station footbridge!
  2. I first saw the DD coach at Inchicore during the 150th year open day before they actually entered service. In recent weeks I have travelled in a refurbished DD set, a 22000 and a Mark 4. As far as passanger comfort and ambience is concerned I would rate the DD as best, followed by the 22000 and finally the Mark 4. Of course others may totally disagree!
  3. Amazing collection of photos. Many thanks for posting them.
  4. Any other examples of interlaced track in Ireland? It is common on tramway systems on mainland Europe.
  5. I think that the interlaced, or gauntlet, track was removed about 15 years ago. I remember reading about it at the time but I am not sure of the exact date.
  6. Really interesting collection of timetables. The Bundoran line is of particular interest to me as I used to be taken on it as a child to the seaside, including the 'tea and suger' Sunday evening trains! My recollection is that all the trains were steam hauled but is there any record of AEC/BUT railcars ever reaching Bundoran?
