Brendan Curran "Train Repairs" will have a stand there.
Hi Thomas, & thanks for that, is he on this site, & what's his tag
-
Don't forget there is a shopping Centre, a Cinema, a Bowling Alley, plenty of fun for all, while the fun takes place in Stillorgan Park Hotel
-
Baccy Hornby or Lima?
Hi Dave, sorry for the late reply, it's a Lima,
-
I'll hope to get a few minutes inside, any of you guys who will be there say hello as I have a lot of questions, & need help getting a old class 55 "The Fife & Forfar Yeomanry " back in working order, anyone on here who will be at the show & would be able to do this, not for nothing of course,
-
Hi guys, have a peek at this on the bay right now, best of luck to all
-
Can we not have the the bus version, lot's of body's, Ambulances, Garda, Fire engines,
-
Just spotted what appears to be a comprehensive gallery of archive http://transportsofdelight.smugmug.com/RAILWAYS/IRISH-RAILWAYS
A great historical reference guide, well done, a great find, just show's what was available in Ireland,
( burnthebox, otherwise known as Paul Johnston, and no he's not related, pity )

On mine there's a set of lugs just above the rear buffer beam that you need to disengage - If I remember rightly, you need to squeeze the sides of the coal bunker slightly. I won't kid you tho' - it's not an easy job, you're always waiting for the almighty KERR-ACCKKK! as the loco splits in two. The other problem is that the chassis casting on some of the Mainline and Bachmann stuff has got brittle over time.... Do I need to mention that the axles tend to split too?
-Rob
Hi Guys & thanks, yes it's a bugger to open & yes Rob I was expecting to hear that KERR-ACCKKK! but got away with it, but it seem's the axles may have gone, (bit of history with this engine part of a set, deal with that later) so when I get the time I'll need to get someone on here to have a look at it, also I have got my paws on a Lima Class 55 (also a bit of history with this ) which is a non runner, tested it on the rolling road but no go. I don't know what could be wrong, body is in perfect condition. I'm have no knowledge when it comes to engines that don't run when you put them on the rails and throw the switch,
-
Anyone on here know how to open a Mainline OO Gauge o-6-0T Class J72 Loco body from the chassis. Screws underneath open ok, but I cannot get the body to separate from the chassis,
-
OK, what's that in real money
-
That's just the most fantastic vid I've seen of the 071 to date, it seem's to have all functions, so where do you order a 071 with this chip
-
A members meet-up could
If organised properly, there could be 'show and tell' sessions, demonstrations, maybe even a guest speaker...
Why not have a meet up, in a venue which would be as suitable, convenient as possible for everyone, where we could bring our single most prized item for all to gaze comment on, maybe even leer on, it may be in a hotel, or maybe someone knows a venue which could be hired for the night, there must be a venue / hotel who have this kind of venue available these days for something like this to rent / hire for a day.
-
Not to worry lads, as the ad do's say, May not post to Ireland, so there won't be any bidding war from over here
-
Thanks Broithe, I don't doubt that, but when I tried to get it I was told as I have said it's not used anymore for model loco's, so I had to settle for an oil, I got Peco Power-Lube PL-64, seem's to be ok at the moment
-
HI ALL, WHO ON HERE KNOW'S WHICH IS BEST TO USE WHEN SERVICING A LOCO. I'VE BEEN TOLD NOBODY USES GREASE ANYMORE NOW BUT AN OIL INSTEAD. ANY SUGGESTIONS VERY WELCOME, I WAS TOLD THIS WHEN I TRIED TO BUY HUB-A-LUBE RECENTLY, WHICH MODEL RAIL HAS COMPARED VERY WELL TO OILS IN A RECENT ISSUE,
-
Anto, just absolutely stunning work, well done mate, don't know just how you do it,
-
Yeh, and it also looked like the back bone of that loco broke, it even looked worse in slow motion, but don't blame the crane driver, it's the engineer / s who decides the weight, and what the crane will hold, is'nt it, either way, it's going to be expensive,
-
Welcome aboard roryon, you'll get plenty of help on here, and abuse, go's with the hobby, well done so far, at least you have layout,
-
on that note lads, we should look into getting t-shirts made with the IRM logo on one side and our user names on the other. makes for great publicity of the site and also makes us recognisable to all.
it's great to see new members coming on board as it can only benifit the hobby, and seening all the pic's and vid's is a great help, but how will these new members get to know everyone, taking heirflick's suggestion may help, but I've been to the show's in Blackrock, Clontarf, Dun Laoghaire, and Raheny, and the only people I actually spoke to from the site are wrenneire and Dave of Helix / baseboards, so what do you have to do to meet the other members, maybe I could do a demo of burning the boxes in the middle of the hall, confused:
-
GOT TO THE SHOW ON SAT. HAD A FEW WORDS WITH WRENNEIRE, AS HE WAS DOING WHAT HE DO'S BEST, AND MET DAVE, HIM OF THE HELIX, BASEBOARDS,ETC. BUT THAT'S ALL WOULD HAVE LIKED TO HAVE MET A FEW MORE, AS IT SEEM'S THERE WERE A GOOD NUMBER OF YOU AT THE SHOW, I ENJOYED THE SHOW ANYWAY, MAYBE NEXT TIME WE'LL ALL WEAR OUR NAME TAGS, OR SOMETHING
-
Congrats, Warbonnet, long may they last you, well done,
-
Looking forward to finally meeting you all,
-
Kirley, bloody fantastic, just totally mega, the layout is looking great, ballasting is looking perfect, keep up the good work, & keep the pic's / video's coming,
