If anyone has an hour to spare next Wednesday, Murphy Models will be displaying their new 121 class loco

with sound fitted in the clubrooms from 8pm or so

All welcome, tea and bikkies will be supplied

If you like mince pies, bring a box (or two)

Will there be a little video shot just to let the rest see what we are missing?

I could never quite make up my mind as to whether I liked that livery on the Mk2's. But I have to say they do look well with 229.

Liking the Irish Rail tippex era myself I hate both these liveries!  But for some reason I actually really like them together in model form.  😁

  3. When you have 2 small companies owned by the same people surely distribution of products being merged must be common sense and help keep costs down which is what we all want.

At the end of the day all products are distributed from China!😁

  4. Please no Oxfords. After the hash they have made of the uk liveries I would have little confidence of a decent Irish version. Hopefully a certain other little team can see a large opportunity that is still there with Oxford slipping up.

  5. Hope this helps. I got the feeling that it could well be just after Chinese New Year although obviously Paddy wants these out ASAP but he wants them right and they are looking good physically and technically.

  6. Well lads I hope everyone enjoyed the good old Warley war!!  Battling through the crowd.

I have got to say I really enjoyed the whole event on Saturday. Met up with Wrenneire aka Dave and John Hamilton at Ardmore. I hope your colleague was ok after his fall.
Also meeting up with Patrick and Fran on the IRM/Accurascale stand and taking the time to have a chat and see the new products due soon, great stuff.

But just as I left the show and entered the Starbucks queue I happen to say hello to Paddy Murphy. This is a man I have only seen once before in my life.
So he said to wait a couple of minutes and he would be back.
Sure enough as I was collecting my coffee he came back and for the next hour we chatted. He gave an amazing insight into the problem child the 121 had been and the various difficulties he had faced and at the same time keeping the price as sensible as possible.
He then unwrapped some samples and showed the various options covered and the enormous moulding challenges. It was the highlight of the show for me. Thanks Paddy for taking the time to talk but also the fantastic models produced over the years.
And if anyone wants to complain about the 121’s being late take time to consider how blessed we have been for such a small market. Gareth

  7. I suppose if you take the individual wagon total as 2500, all it takes is about 70 orders of 18 wagons a prototypical rack and over half the wagons are gone.

I will certainly order some empty flats if they are ever sold that way.

It’s great to see IRM having such problems and can only be a confidence boost to producing more Irish models in the future. We don’t want forgotten as Accurascale goes from strength to strength.

If any of you lads up in the IRM Tower headquarters have been feeling poorly lately i.e. lots of stabbing pain in the arms, legs and torso well I am afraid it is my fault. The wife happened to see my proposed purchases in my shopping cart and went away and got some dolls from the attic. One now sports a cardboard name tag which says "That crowd up in IRM Towers". She has been dutifully sticking pins into the aforementioned doll.

    I feel your pain!!!😂

Yes that's what I was thinking, think I will stick with the oo, but use the new bullhead track, with the wider sleeper spacing it does give it a more broad gauge look even if it isnt

I would recommend Peco Bullhead track if you are going with OO.  I think it does help the appearance greatly.

I have included a link to a short video of my layout we’re I have used it.  This layout is far from complete but you can get the feeling for how the track looks
