  1. Considering how design savy the team have been with projects, I'd wager on a Jeep or Mogul, with their common LMS parts would be a boost to an Accurascale LMS offering.

The pick up system used by OO Works picking up power through the loco on one side with the return through the tender or the "American" system was commonly used for tender locomotives.

It would be worth while converting the bogie wheels to live axle pick up by fitting "Shorting out Brushes" part 4M52 available from Alan Gibson Works sales@alangibsonworkshop.com or by leaving a message for Colin Seymour on 0044-161-679-1607

The best option to improve running and pulling power is to add weight to the tender and modify the drawbar to transfer weight from the front of the tender to the rear of the loco using 'the weighted tender' system.

The simplest step would be to add weight to the cab to check whether it improves running before carrying out modifications to the tender or drawbar.

Locos with metal chassis and gearing like the OO Works locos require some 'running in' preferably on a continuous run to allow bearings and gearing to bed in to achieve reliable running as there is less in built slop than rtr diesels with plastic gearing.

Interesting, thanks John for the information. Certainly something to ruminage on!

If the tender has pickup through the wheels it should get all the power it needs

    over points. 🤔

00 Works have a most unusal method for power pick ups on the Us, the driving wheels pick up power while the power return is through the tender, meaning that while wired for power, annoyingly the tender doesn't aid in pick up. Been meaning to rewire mine as its only let down by its poor running abilities.

  4. Finished the new MSR stock enteries.

Showcasing the evolution of the MSR livery from the busy colours of the early 1890s to the plain 'sunshine' colours of WWI simplicity where manpower and resources were tight on the north west corner of Sodor.

No.20, a compo brake van, the early MSR filirted with provision of 1st class passengers but soon found that bar his Grace, the usilitation of such facilites were not worth the effort to maintain it and so soon downrated it to 3rd class only but seasoned travellers would know which compartments offered a little bit more comfort then the usual fare!

Nos 10 & 19, are Mid Sodor own builds at their works in Arlesdale to their own in house design, No.19 is fitted with side boards to allow usage on the ever popular "The Picnic", the service the MSR offered during summer to holiday makers, a request stop service that travelled the line stopping at local beauty spots and points of interest to allow holidaymakers to enjoy the Sudrian countryside.

This looks like it would do:

    General white/black/white Lining (fox-transfers.co.uk)

I'd probably paint a thin line of black on the tanks and then use the individual white lining to cover the edge. Plan will be to use the green rattle can I used for my CIE coaches.

Would this lining set also be useful for MGWR green? My J72 bash will receive that livery, and it's a bit of a large and expensive product for just one loco.

It's what I used on my model of 801.

Given the absence of any mention of who exactly is going to be using the line for freight...........could this finally be an outbreak of .............wait  for it..............long term planning?....ie lets build the infrastructure first and then go after customers.

No there is a customer already idenified for the line and one of the main drivers on the scheme. I did some of the design work for the alignment back in 19 for the client and if their plans are coming through, lot of freight flows will be heading through Foynes.

Limerick is an ideal city in which to develop commuter rail. It actually has railways that are not built on going out in multiple directions from the city. RTE reports that the new rail for the reopening is arriving into Foynes Port (presumably by ship). This all did rather come out of the blue for me too. I assumed it would be report after report and then nothing. If the line is rebuilt to carry freight it will be relatively trivial to add passenger services later.

It's all a matter of optismisng the cant for lower freight speeds and for higher passenger speeds, minimising the amount of over cantedness for the freight trains and under cantedness for passenger.

I am glad I have all the ones applicable to my chosen era or I'd be going mad that I hadn't sent a representative lol. Do you know what he was charging for these rarities?

190 for the BGMs and 50 for the CIE flying snail coaches.

Have to say, the highlight of the show (for me) was the cafe. Had three cups of tea, a ham sandwich and a couple of extremely tasty scones.

In fairness those sandwiches and scones were seriously good. Didn't expect to leave a model show and instead of regretting not purchasing a model, I was regretting not having another scone!

Hornby had their CAD done months before the June announcements by Heljan and Peco?

Considering the Class 66s are expected to hit shelves Jan/Feb next year and the Class 31s mid 2023, they were well into production by the time Heljan announcing their interest and opening the order book. Indeed it seems that Hornby have been quietly developing this range since 2017, considering how much they have in the pipeline for the next 12 months of TT.

Hornby have practices to be rightfully called out on, this isn't one of them.

  10. Along lines broad and narrow...

    310665569_1234960813742937_9097398108933

One of the MSR's Parliamentary train rakes, made up of two cut down Dundas VoR coaches and what I think is a Dundas Pickering brake I picked up cheap on the bay.

    No description available.

Continuing the 1600mm model theme of NPCVs, a very famous and familar coach is taking shape once more. Just really needs a minature burco boiler for the tae.

Anyone who had points on the old systems has had them Sync’d over now.

any feedback welcome. Hope you all enjoy the new ‘club card’ system for all your IRM and accurascale purchases.

    Love the club card system!

One question, does old orders count towards level and trophy progress or is it brand new today?
