There is just something about American tractive power. After recently picking up my first American locomotive, an Athearn SD40.  I decided to update and increase the detailing of the locomotive. Starting with adding sound. Firstly removing the old eight pin motherboard and replacing it with a new 21pin motherboard with speaker and sound decoder from DCC concepts.

Thanks for getting back to me. Looks and sounds like you've done a great job on that model!

My reluctance to do it myself is just in being intimidated by the amount of wiring on the Class 071 model.

I may well give it a shot.
