Austerity Measures - Saddle Tank Delivery Update

It’s been a busy few weeks for our little industrial workhorses, and we’ve got an update on the delivery of our highly anticipated Hunslet Austerity tank engines.

First up, the good news: all pre-orders for the locomotives contained in the first shipment have now been dispatched to our direct customers and retailers. If you were waiting for one of these models and placed your order for a locomotive in the first container, it should now be on its way to you!

However, there is a small delay affecting some of the sound-fitted versions. The ESU sound decoders required for these models were delayed in reaching us, which has pushed back the final delivery of these locomotives. We’re now expecting these models to arrive in around 10 days time, so thankfully the wait is almost over.

Two containers? That’s a lot of Austerity!

There’s another reason for the split delivery, and it’s a rather nice problem to have: demand for the Hunslets has been absolutely massive.

The response to these diminutive but characterful locomotives has exceeded expectations, with particularly strong demand for the Longmoor Military Railway pack. In fact, there were enough models ordered to require two containers to get everything moving!

Rather than hold everything back until both containers arrived, we split the shipment. That means the first batch has already landed and pre-orders from that container have been packed and dispatched, while the remaining models are now following behind.

Some are still available… for now!

The really important bit if you missed the pre-order: surplus stock from the locomotives already delivered is now available to purchase directly from the Accurascale website.

But we really do mean limited.

With the vast majority of the first shipment already allocated to pre-orders, there are only very small quantities of certain versions remaining. Once these are gone, you’ll need to wait for a future production run – and we certainly wouldn’t recommend assuming there will be plenty left sitting on the shelves!

Wilbert in particular has been hugely popular, so if that’s the one you've been waiting for, now is definitely the time to act.

Meanwhile, for those still waiting for their sound-fitted Hunslet, sit tight. We’re now only around 10 days away from delivery, and once they arrive, we’ll be getting them out the door as quickly as possible.

Small engines, enormous demand. If you want one, don’t hang about!

Quick question - you're marketing these as Hunslets, though the class was built by several manufacturers also including Hudswell Clarke, Barclay, Bagnall, Vulcan Foundry and RSH.

Are all the models of Hunslets, or is there more variety of builders in the models offered?

Don't worry, I'm not actually going to buy one! I already have a Dapol O gauge version waiting to be modified into an MSC austerity (they had 3 of these locos from 3 different builders).
