How do you dcc fit a mm 071

You need to remove the middle section of the body. There are 4 screws on the bottom, 2 at each end underneath the bogies. You'll see the screw holes when you turn the bogies to the side. Just unscrew them and the body will slide upwards.

You'll see the blanking plate for the DCC socket around the centre of the circuit board. Carefully remove it and fit your chip in it's place.

Give it a quick test before refitting the body.

In relation to 071 chip - are they the same chip that 141/181 use or are they completely different ? Im trying to get an 071 to work and Im having probs. Don't know if its dodgy chip so I was going to try a 141 chip to check. The 3 dip swithes are for lights only or are they to change to DC running. Thank guys. Dave

what make of decoder are you using? What Controller are you using?

By decoder do you mean chip ? It is Murphy one and I'm using NCE power cab -setting short add to 3 and long address to number of model 073

The 141 chip I was going to try is one I got from you Seamus and it works fine in 141's

Wouldnt be the 1st dodgy MM chip Ive seen. Also the 3-4 function chip is better for the 141's as the lights (head/marker lights) are on the same circuit, on the 071's they are separate.
