  1. Hi Jonathan, huge fan of your photos, useful and inspiring I helped out with the research for this model, and given I wasn't even 5 years old when they stopped regularly running on the Enterprise most of the info was gleaned from research both online and talking to people Past 1984 they were not common on the Enterprise at all - they were not as reliable then, plus I'm not sure if non-CAWS fitted locos were allowed south of Malahide then (which was the furthest that CAWS reached on the Belfast line then, was there special permission needed, loco inspector in the cab etc). I'm sure lack of maintenance etc ended push-pull operation, given the 111's didnt use it Coach lamp irons - I know BR MK2's had two, one high, one low, IR ones were both lower down, as long as there was a lamp iron there it was sufficient, later the two rule came into place. Hunslets only had one lamp iron, be it for a tail lamp, the GNRI white square to mark the rear of the train or occasionally a tour headboard. It was well out of gauge too The great irony of it all is that the Hunslets shared plenty of parts with the BR Class 20 and Portuguese CP 1400 locos, both of which are renowned for reliability and yet their NIR cousins didnt even last 15 years on the frontline
  2. Happened for real frequently before TPWS days on NIR
  3. Fantastic Cancellations, Well Done to All Concerned
  4. Never South of Inchicore or Lansdowne Road. Thats as far as they got Thats the only lamp iron they had, and way out of gauge at that If Hunslets were regular visitors south of Dundalk after the Mid 1980's they would have had a second lamp iron fitted - this was down to the rulebook change after the Cherryville Junction crash - every Irish Rail train had to have 2 lamps fitted and not just one
  5. Finally some movement https://www.irishrail.ie/en-ie/news/plans-for-new-navan-railway-published https://www.rte.ie/news/2026/0524/1574920-navan-railine/
  6. No, Inchicore and Lansdowne Road are the furthest they got

  8. Just ring them, not a huge operation and you will speak to someone quickly and directly by picking up the telephone, whereas emails may not be able to be replied to as promptly

    Paddy Murphy RIP

Funeral details etc have now been released https://rip.ie/death-notice/padraig-paddy-murphy-dublin-rathfarnham-623457
  10. You mean the line from Tara Junction to Kingscourt thats been entirely lifted and turned into a greenway?
  11. If its not brand new it is 'sold as seen'. Not everyone in the scene is friendly or trustworthy, been proven several times now 'Caveat Emptor'
  12. Mostly transportation costs as it migrated around the place slowly dissolving....
  13. The MK3 buffet 6402 (ex BR HST 40513) has been sold back to the UK. 227 is scrap, think ITG want the bogies/axles as strategic spares, probably the only useable parts. Its been in scrap condition for over 2 decades now. A lost cause 015, could be cosmetically restored, its been left outside for a while now, and it was the spares box for 003/039 for years. Where would you put it never mind run it 6105 and the push pull intermediate coach (6305(??)) would be saveable if you are brave and have money to burn. 6105 has significance as the last coach to be built in Inchicore. Again, preservation (especially in Ireland) is about realism. I'm sure Santie had good intentions, but alas too many obstacles. Buying stuff is the easy bit
  14. So why bother even replying?
  15. Hi Enda You would be quicker giving a price for an unpainted version, 'pm for info' is counter productive. Pick a price and stick with it
  16. 40 shades of green, paint liberated/stolen for use elsewhere and some thinners thrown in... No such thing as RAL codes back then
  17. If you have the funds, why not both with sound
  18. Depends which MK2 - the 'original' Irish MK2D's or the late 'imported' MK2A/B's - both were on the Enterprise, around 2006/7 as pointed out above. MK2D's pushed off when the De Dietrich's were introduced but appeared occasionally afterwards NIR, the original Enterprise fleet all gone by 1999, the Gatwicks made a few runs, last one being in June 2008
  19. DCDR be like
  20. See the production samples running with matching IRM MK2's on Dundalk Works this weekend - in Dundalk
  21. A few other layouts and traders will be present over the weekend along with Dundalk Works The suggested voluntary contribution is €5 at the door Parking is available in the area too, but keep in mind this is in the town centre so will be busy with shoppers etc
  22. So little Jimmys round and round trainset on the floor and Minatur Wonderland in Hamburg are the same thing, ok
  23. Well you need to buy a decent tv/monitor, maybe a gaming chair and a good internet connection...... Its one of those arguments, different levels you can take things to
  24. Not really - how much are other things like Nintendo DS's, Playstations and Xboxes for 'younger buyers' these days? Easy enough for manufacturers to judge and in many cases buyers too - example cant see the announced Murphy Models Dart Plus selling many, hence the IRM Hunslet is a 'one-off' and despite this being made very very clear there will be people in the future who regret not buying them at the time, or never even heard of them
