His performances at Euro 2012 have surpassed anything else he's done in an Italian jersey before, including the World Cup victory in 2006. And to think AC Milan cut him loose because they reckoned he was past it! On another note, seeing as the two teams in the final came from Ireland's group, does that make Ireland the 4th best team in the competition? Edited June 29, 2012 by Garfield Quote

With all the talk of match fixing and the state of the domestic game in Italy I thought it would be just like them to win it. Pirlo and Buffon have been the outstanding players in the tournament for me. Rich, As a Roma fan, I have to say that I think De Rossi has also been outstanding in the tournament. You're right about the Italians, I had the same thought... when they get written off, they grit their teeth and they play well! Quote
