mpc84 Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 While I don't have one, I was wondering if the Scalescenes version might be of use: http://scalescenes.com/products/T018-Narrowboats-and-lock. I've looked at a few sites (mainly commercial) including the 'Bay' and the only Hornby one I've found is listed at £69.95 Quote
Broithe Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 If you do build your own, remember that both sets of gates 'point' uphill when shut - the right-hand, lower, gates on this lock wouldn't work, if the water was real... Quote
DiveController Posted May 2, 2015 Author Posted May 2, 2015 Yes, that's a rip-off. MOst on eBay have been damaged, bits missing, gates 'repaired' or missing etc. Don't intend to pay that, may have to do without. Scalescenes doesn't look bad. May look into that. Tks Quote
Broithe Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 That one in that picture is just one that I saw on a layout once, not being offered for sale. Lots of canals around me, and the symmetry of the lock stood out, if you see them all the time. The correct, asymmetric, lock just "looks wrong" to some people, if they aren't used to them. Quote

I think the one in your picture has a huge sinkhole within the lock hence the dates are correctly positioned:facepalm: Quote
Broithe Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 We do get the odd bank-burst, if you want to model that..... Quote
