snapper Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Irish Traction in Colour Book by Derek Huntriss, I was wondering if anybody has this book, is it any good? I have never heard of it before and just found it when looking for something else on ebay. http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Irish-Traction-Colour-Book-Derek-Huntriss-HB-NEW-0711034591-LBS-/170843594813?pt=Non_Fiction&hash=item27c712603d Quote
aclass007 Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 (edited) I have it. It's a nice hardback, with good colour photos. The majority of the photos are of steam engines, but there are some good shots of the older diesels featured too.... And, it's better value here...... http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/Irish-Traction-Colour-Derek-Huntriss/9780711034594 Edited July 11, 2012 by aclass007 Quote
snapper Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 Thanks for that, I like late steam early diesel so I might pick it up Quote
islandbridgejct Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 I looked through it in Easons and there's a nice collection of pictures. The usual range of topics, but not anything I had seen before. I'll probably buy it in due course. I always thought 'traction' meant diesel or electric locos. I guess that would be 'modern traction'. You live and learn. Alan Quote
heirflick Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 just got the book yesterday. some great pictures of times past. 2 pictures really stand out to me.... one of 3 UTA 2-6-4T's number 51, 53 and 4 pulling a passanger special to York Road in 1969- a magnificant sight! the second is of an A class metro vic no A14 actually being turned on the turntable in Galway in '65! all in all , a worthwhile book to add to my collection:tumbsup: Quote
