NIRCLASS80

Hornby 2016 Range announced

Recommended Posts

Hi Des. I meant the quality of their 'drive' systems on diesels, not the quality of the body mouldings or detail. Have diesel chassis improved in recent years like this Class 71. Noel

Class 50 was the first of the Hornby super detailed and new motorized models. They were followed by

Class 31

Class 60

Class 56

HST Power cars

Class 67.

I would go as far as to say that the Class 60 hold's the title for best 4mm rtr diesel model on the market, especially in triple grey.

Apart from the Railroad (budget) range, their diesel locos are centre drive and have been for some time.

Rich,

Thanks Richard and Rich. Did they do a class 37 in the new specs? (have a nostalgic leaning towards the 37s as saw a lot of them in the UK in the old days of BR blue.

No they didn't do a 37 to the new specs. The Bachmann retooled 37 is a nice model and ticks all the boxes running wise. I also should have added the Hornby 08 class to the above list, it's a lovely little model.

Treated myself to the new Hornby HST in Virgin Livery, as I had a load of Virgin Mk3 to be used as donors. Yup, gorgeous model....may yet get the classic blue and yellow. Any time I see an old 70's Hornby catalogue photo I get a surge of pure nostalgia.
