Hello All, I hope this is the correct place to ask a question about buying from the US on ebay? This Santa Fe loco caught my eye :

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HO-Scale-Proto2000-23224-Santa-FE-E6A-B-Powered-Unpowered-Diesel-Set-HO6081-/115346822162?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0

I'm wondering if anyone has used An Post's AddressPal service to save money on postage (Addresspal charges 15.99 to post from US to Ireland). And if so what were the customs charges like? Any cheaper than the $40 eBay would charge?

take into account you will still pay normal customs due on all addresspal parcels add in the addresspal charge plus the post charge to the addresspal office sometimes its cheaper sometimes not

  2. going by what irm has done with accruscale and the way things have been produced i wonder will we see the first ever real rtr  irish steam loco this year and i firmly believe the 80 class has to be a contender with the mk2b carraiges now done

  3. looking at the new rpsi set from irm and note that we will have one mk2b carraige still outstanding which is mk2b no 305. I wonder will it be done as a stand alone carraige in the future or are there suitable decals available to change 300 to 305

  4. hi all

as you know i help on the rpsi onboard raffles . as we have restarted up thankfully if anyone has any railway  books or dvds etc they no longer require that they would donate for our raffles we would appreciate them. every cent raised on our raffles goes back into maintaining the stock and providing your tours

23/24 years ago Marks Models was producing resin kits to scale i.e. 141's/201's way above what was being produced at the time.

have one of those 141s and 201 kits from marks

Not if your 70th is this year anyway! Boskonay said a year from samples to sales, so no samples means no sales.

    ☹️

Still, he also said that there may be a "powered" announcement this year. My money is on a 2600, which would be frikkin' awesome, and would leave me closer to being homeless, but we could be even luckier if it turns out to be a 22000.

Agreed, it IS bashing of everybody elses opinions, constantly at that, and it's inappropriate.

It also leads to conflict. When people are goaded enough with the constant knocking of their opinions, they'll eventually retalliate and lash out in return, possibly lambasting the old stuff from before their time, that they don't remember.

Then, one posts a survey to ask what people would buy, multiple choice options, and because of ones own negativity, those who may have bought stuff from previous eras now say no way, only my era.

i wonder will it be a steamer this year after all they have started doing steam in accruscale now

Does not give any information though Tony on if it is prepaid or not, Technically if there is no postage fee or incoterms noted we would have to add that on to our customs entry. maybe the same here too.

i have challenged a couple of customs charges by providing proof of payment paid paypal is brillant for it the funny thing is ebay items are supposed to be duty paid here from ebay uk but some are still been charged for

Those of us who have experienced a particularly large number of birthdays will recall early days at Whitehead, when volunteers happily swarmed over several loco boilers and just ripped the stuff off with their bare hands, and threw it in the skip!

I remember Senior doing the same with an old home heating boiler he was removing........

Mad, when you think of it these days!

If the area has been drained as shown in that picture, what of the buried asbestos-clad vehicles? Once re-exposed, did they send in contractors to take off the asbestos? Or have they filled it in with landfill? And if so, will buried asbestos affect groundwater there in the future?

looks like everything is gone from the site since 2006 using historical views yet theres no information online as to what happened to them

To date, my customers have been lucky, to get kits, but don't try BOOKS!

We've just had a parcel returned to us (£10 of postage down the drain), the An Post docket said "unrecognisable customs code", or some such - my associate posted it, so I don't have the exact wording. Needless to say the Royal Mail aren't terribly helpful, suggesting that we send it again - are you kidding, another £10 on books worth £20?

As someone said earlier, exports UK to the Republic are reducing, because they're well-nigh impossible.

And here am I trying to raise money for a series of charities (like the RPSI, IRRS etc) .........

Time to retire and concentrate on being a grumpy old man!

PS My late father was a Customs Officer (UK) so I can hardly start smuggling now ........

    are books not vat exempt

    Hi everyone,

There has been some silence on this project and I must admit that's down to IRM, and not Robert, so apologies to both Robert and all of you who are interested in this footbridge for that.

We were so impressed with Robert's design and attention to detail that we approached him with a view to mass produce his footbridge design rather than do a small run 3D print, which he has very graciously agreed to. So, this will be a new scenic accessory from IRM!

What's more, we are working on a modular concept for the bridge, allowing for various spans and orientations, giving you greater flexibility to fit in on your layout! The plan is that it will fully painted and with the bare minimum for assembly. We are currently working with our factory to get this production ready, and we will have a full update and launch including specs, prices, ordering information and more later this year, so please bare with us on that.

We will have more details in due course, but with the design being so good and now with a factory fit and finish, it promises to be a must have for any Irish layout!

    Cheers!

    Fran

is this the last announcement for this year that we have been waiting on

    Good Evening,

"As we cannot amend or rectify any electronic customs data"

Seems to me that it is the info from source that is wrong here. Some Clearing systems use the Data transmitted from across the water to Create the entry here, if it is incorrect then your goosed it seems.

Given postal stuff cant be tracked normally if it is not registered I am not surprised that cant tie up with the sender.

A colleague told me a ball of wool was stopped from the UK and RTO. I will buy from Europe these days, bit longer but I got some CDs in the door today no hassle.

Ask them can a broker clear it for you?

    George.

they stop eu stuff too i had stuff sent from the netherlands stopped for vat untill i emailed asking when did the netherlands leave the eu
