A train set - steam locomotive + wooden bogie + laminate + 6-wheel third + tin van, now there’s a thought!
I do realise, before the IRM guys are imbibing their smelling salts, that we’ve a very long way to go before such a thing is commercially viable, but who can say never?
i actually bought 2 of those sets in from the us may not be perfect but at least is was more realistic than the hornby steam sets we had before and it could be the way to get the kids into modelling think of the rpsi main market children who will grow up loving steam trains and some might even want one to run on a layout

i assume now that production has started that you have final numbers of each loco and you could technically put up the remaining numbers available after preorders on each loco on the site which may help for people to know which locos to buy before they are gone

Great to see this finally happening- have you decided on what locomotives will be released first ?
all of them
I presume now that production has started we might see some really interesting in build pictures to wet our appetites for them

Just thinking
Seen as IRM have proved and excelled themselves in the hobby so far with their range of Irish Railways would they do the same for road based vehicles.
Rapido trains have proved how they can create a plastic bus similar to Herpa , Wiking and Busch but far better and allowing multiple liveries and registration route choices.
Do we think that IRM could do something similar and do an iconic Irish bus in this way or even other vehicles like trucks vans or cars that only operated here.
on the other hand would love a LUAS tram

Looking at what IRM has said and others have said steam may be a difficult one for sales .
However if a steam loco was done it needs to be a well known seen one as said before no 4 gives options for the UK version so may help that one push ahead. Personally i would love to see 461 or 85 .
In relation to numbers I am not sure how it works out with economics for irm but im certain people would pay extra for a proper built Irish loco the OO works U classes and J15 classes showed that .
I purchased 2 J15 locos at 295 pounds sterling each so would not have a qualm about paying the same for a proper rtr IRM loco and I am certain theres others would do similar . can a more limited run be done for a slightly higher price than current diesel locos

yes seen it fairly pricey for one

wow with accruscale announcing a steam engine today dont think anyone seen it coming i wonder will we see a similar announcement here later this year. Could you imagine an irish steam loco done by IRM and the good thing is there are a few in preservation that can be scanned easily

depending on availability we will be yes. We will also be restocking those that have now sold out, as well as other vehicle brands in the near future and of course our own commissions.
Keep an eye out for more and thanks to everyone who has purchased so far!
Cheers,
Fran

anyone remember who used to build and sell 450 and 80 class trains in the 90s i know he had issues with a garage flood years ago but have long lost his details
-
just wondering has anyone else noticed that oxford diecast irish models are now in the vehicle section on the website even though all listed as out of stock. is this a new venture for irm

id say if irm are going to do a carraige its going to be the detrich for livery choices followed maybe by the park royal.
i would love a dmu or emu as to date no company has done a rtr version
most likely loco would be the c class to complememnt the a class
an nir jeep would be something interesting to test the steam water
id say pleanty of buses as well

might help irm then as there registered for vat in both ireland and the uk for selling irm to uk and accruscale to ireland

We can confirm though that the As are now in the early stages of production. We've been accused of dropping things from a height recently without fair warning. Well, here is your 5 month warning!!!

i would assume that even though its 7 announcements that they wont all appear in stock before the a class

I'm sure someone on the site could produce a sheet of these and maybe some related liveries on a sheet. One of the bus enthusiasts like @GSI345 might know
Railtec might do it idk
issue with producing logos is white cream ones dont print well

in one picture theres a rake of about 4 wagons in it

id also be looking at types that may be sold through accruscale the olympian from irbus has done very well with various variants even though id love to see a readily built average price d or kc i think a good option is the av as its got lots of livery choices and a lot went to the uk for operators
