    Hi everyone,

We got word today that the first 3 121s; B121, B135 and the RPSI special edition B134 are landing in Dublin next week. They will then be taken into stock and pre-orders will be dispatched from Monday week.

We still have some stock of these three locos allocated to us, so get them before they go! https://irishrailwaymodels.com/collections/murphy-models-class-121-locomotive

    Cheers!

    Fran

I would imagine there will be a future run of them as the tooling exists, worth keeping an eye out for updates.

with the way rapido has done the plastic buses could irm do the same for say the likes of a bombardier in plastic and release on different routes liveries to cover the development cost

From a modeler's (or potential modeler's) point of view it's little frustrating to have thing sell out so quickly.

On the up side, they are available from other retails such as Marks Models and other retailer. Looking back at emails I guess I purchased 6 or 7 Class 071s from them several years ago so I prefer to give my business there rather than to GB retailers.  I'm sure Hattons have some too.

I prefer the IRM's website for automatic VAT deduction etc at the time of purchase (one and done)

Marks will do this for overseas but it involves and email and check the refund has been done.

It would be nice if the preorder models had an indicator of remaining supplies. IRM know how many 121 models they are selling (since they are sold out of some obviously)

agree they obviously have a set number of each loco so it should be easy to start countdown at last 30 or so i was surprised that 125 was gone no warning so thats 1 loco i cant get from irm

We do offer flexible installments on preorders with Direct Debit as well as card and PayPal options. As Fran said in another thread the only ‘surprises’ were the accessory packs. Everything else is long announced.
The catch 22 being that if we announce then it takes time to deliver (like A or 42) we get daily ‘are we there yet’ queries to deal with :)

What we’ve settled on is that we will share first samples. So the long tooling window (which can be over 60 working days) and the research and development window (usually at least 6 months) are complete, leaving room for feedback and adjustments and preorders with usually a window of 50-60 days for decorated samples and depending on the item and run between 3 and 6 months assembly time.
This allows a window of opportunity for preorders between 6 and 9 months between launch and delivery.

that is perfect especially if the preorder is 6 months to 9 months keeps us all happy

  5. a lot of people were giving out about sudden releases i must admit i did too but i suppose we had nearly 2 years warning on the 42 project with deliveries spread over the last year which was handier. the a class we have been able to pre purchase for the last year plus now. when you look the 121s have only been up a few months to buy and already 3 are sold out. Whatever IRM bring out new in the future if its a loco 6 months minimum from launch to availability is probably best to allow people pay for them over the 6 months. small items that cost under 20 are easy enough for instant notice. the same with freight and passenger sets we need a couple of months advance payment time . This also allows IRM to have capital in advance .The other option would be a return of the original top up gift card especially as you can only use 1 gift card per order and most people wouldnt have a 300 plus euro gift card off a freight set but may have 3 100 euro ones.no matter what IRM do I will always support them but anything they can do to increase sales by making them easier the better.

  6. we havnt had any news in a while but im wondering how long before we see the  full colour built samples appearing as must be in production soon. i know we seen preproduction painted samples but nothing since of final versions

I am planning to use the tanks as a basis for the tank wagons built by CIE in the late 50s early 60, looks like a matter of cutting off the ISO twistlock frame extensions,  designing and installing suitable running gear

i wonder before you do that is there a plan for it
