  1. Hi People. Can I just ask for any input from people as I have not seen it mentioned before. Is there a particular company that would be willing to Insure our models and/or layouts. I currently have it on my contents insurance but with each passing year the collection gets bigger. I am not sure if there is a cut-off point for contents insurance or will I have to take out a separate policy with someone. From inquiries I have made with certain companies they only do the house+contents. I've not tried gadget insurance but they seem expensive enough even for a mobile phone. Any input from fellow members would help. Cheers everyone.
  2. As I have said before, I appreciate what Murphy Models has done for the Irish Model Railway scene. The 141s and 071s are fantastic Models. But little things that were pointed out before the production run started on the 121s were just ignored. To get 129 mostly right, then get 133 with the wrong marker light arrangements, no dayglow is annoying. I did end up buying 10×121s but I didn't get 133. And before you jump down my neck and accuse me of knowing nothing about model railways like you have in the past, I'm just expressing MY opinion. Yet when I pointed out 2 things that were not right on certain A class locos, they were changed within an hour. Happy New Year everyone.
  3. The latest MM Chip from Marks Models.
  4. Finally sound chipped one of my 071s. I think this newer chip sounds different from the original 1st batch. I am open to correction. 20211214_003519.mp4
  5. I would put my money on a Nir 101 class or a DART. Ammonia tanks and 20ft flats for containers, beer.
  6. I gave my ALL my IRM wagons a drop of oil and a good run-in and they run fine. Very squeaky to start with but now running very well. Tara's, Ferts, Containers, Spoils. Just waiting for the big Ammonia Tanker and Bogie Bulk announcements .
  7. The Tara wagons with the original ribbed roofs in the oxide/brown colour would be good to go with the A class too.
  8. Outstanding yard and selection of stock. I'm lost for words. Wow...
  9. Some Cawood wagons that briefly ran here in the very early 90s. Just got the loads for them, and are another highly recommended Accurascale/IRM product. 20211026_112840.mp4
  10. Not Irish wagons but related to IRM are the Fantastic PTA wagons. I used the wagon protection inserts to use as ballast loads for the Yeoman wagons. It was just a tester and I enjoyed doing it. Doing my bit for the environment too by reusing the aerofoam.
  11. A bit fast. The drivers are on the way home.
  12. 20211021_232257.mp4 20211021_232556.mp4 Sorry about the edit, the video would not load. Admin feel free to remove the broken links if you wish. 20211021_232257.mp4
  13. Oh, and those boxes? Well, more on that this Sunday. Could it be C Class/original 201 class locos. Loads of scope there with them. Whatever it is in the boxes it is surely to be a master piece as we come to expect from IRM.
  14. Hi Everyone. Thank you so much for all the kind comments. I don't normally post too much online and I have seen some beautiful layouts on this forum so I decided to do a short video when 054 came out of the box. I will say it again, cracking locos from IRM. I eagerly await the next ace they deal. When I get a chance I will do another video. Thanks again for the positive feedback.
  15. Outstanding Models. IRM has excelled yet again. Livery, details, extras in pack, boxing of model, running quality, ease of access for decoder fitting & finally they just look the business. Thanks to all at IRM for making sure the A class arrived just perfect.
  16. Giving 054 a run. 20211018_205212.mp4
  17. If I remember correctly, Cab 2 is the radiator end on the real ones with the noisy drive shaft and cab 1 is the Electrical control cabinet.
  18. Don't forget the all important Driver too. I will happily pose for them.
  19. 030 was the only A class with the white stripe livery to have the number in this location. Yes it does matter to some modellers that might want to have a loco like this. Each to their own, but I do think this would have also sold very well. Craig B, you could prob get 048 and renumber it to 030 as per the photo as the shade of deeper orange on 048 is very similar to 030.
  20. Bachmann crane behind. Kernow models are now selling them for under £100
  21. They look great. Pity about the error in the details. The maker lights are completely wrong for the IR versions. The head lamp boxes were white and not silver. 133 was supposed to have dayglow. 127SA is not in the correct place on the sides. I suppose beggars can't choose. Credit where it is due to Mr Murphy for great models regardless.
  22. Hello Everyone This is my first post on here. I am a big fan of the railways and delighted to see all the interest been put into the Irish models. Most of the models to date have been brilliant and all the models from IRM have been Fantastic. (Take a bow lads). However I am very disappointed with the latest mk2 from Murphy Models. The look great but are of very poor build. They are no comparison to the Cravens or Bachmann mk2. The tension lock coupling cannot be removed unless it is cut off from the back. The slightest movement and the sprocket come out causing derailment. The wheels are of very poor quality. The electrical boxes on the underframe are falling off. I sent back a coach after 2 of the ribs on the roof were broken off in the box. I go as far as to compare them to coaches that were giving out free in a magazine publication a couple of years ago. The lower orange part is painted to high (too close to the windows). After the fiasco of the first batch of Super train coaches with the black showing through the orange I thought the quality control dept would make an effort. The price of them are close to €60 and for that you would expect a quality product. I am disappointed to say these are not a quality product. Any feed back from other modellers would be welcome.
