Produce and write a couple of Kylie and Rick Astley tunes Fran and all this could be your's. Seriously though you've got to admire the guy, he produces the stock he wants to run himself and he also makes it available for the punters to buy.
Rich,
I don't think I could sleep soundly at night if I inflicted such horrors on the world. I'm too soft I guess!
-
I'd be well chuffed with that too kid , it also seems to be a good color match with the Lima Galway coaches. Best feeling in the world watching the stock busy at work. My own 220 has now become the pride of my 201 fleet. Color wise it just looks spot on and just as I remember them after a few years in service.
Rich,
Have you carried out any extra detailing on yours yet Rich? Would be interested to see what you did and parts you used to see what I can do to my ones.

I'm guessing that many people are aware of Pete Waterman's superb O gauge layout from numerous magazine articles in recent years. Here is a nice (and rather long) video of it in action. Be sure to check out the guy's channel for more videos of the layout and British mainline steam.
Enjoy!

Now that brings back memories! Very nice. You need to adapt it for the faller road system and put a sound chip in!

from me!

Something else worth doing is try a dry run of fitting parts together without glue to make sure they fit together nicely and do not need modification without glue being in the equation. It only gets messy otherwise!
Also, it will help you to work out if some parts need painting before gluing together. And if you make a mess of it the first time, don't be disheartened. I bet everyone on here has made a mess when starting out making kits. You can learn a whole lot from making a mistake. The Dapol kits are perfect to begin with and are enjoyable to make up. Enjoy it!

thanks garfiels, have that one. looking at amazon for 'rails around dublin' and it ..wait for it...83 POUNDS.
Jaysus talk about inflation. I got it on there last night for less than £20!
-
Cheers dude!
-
Thanks Eamon, know anywhere good where I could pick these up?
-
Picked up the book yesterday, cracking piece of work! Is there a similar book about the Dublin area during a similar time period? When it comes to Irish railway books I've lived a very sheltered life...
-
Yes very odd, mind you there were a lot of people causing bother on the forums in recent months (sound familiar?) so they probably got sick and tired babysitting it. I don't really mind once it's not a sign that they're on the way out of business all together, as they really make sweet stuff. I'm sure it isn't though!

There has been much debate about RH175 being the last Leyland Olympian chassis and the final conclusion is probably here:
Thanks for that Tony.
-
We're not paid to correct poor grammar and/or poor jokes. In fact, we're not paid at all!
-
Nice one Anthony. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere before that RH175 was the last decker chassis completed by Leyland so it's a pretty important bus historically too.

It was announced earlier this week that the long running Atlas train forums are to close on May 1st. It has been a great resource for myself as I got interested in yank stuff down through the years despite the amount of hot air that comes out of the place every once in a while and something I'll miss a lot when it's gone.
One particular tradition that'll I'll miss the the Sunday Photo Fun tread which was an institution in itself. Each week members would put up a photo of anything they wanted such as a model they were working on, or completed, or a picture or two from their layout.
The last thread in this tradition is well under way. Well worth a look for inspiration and ideas, even if you aren't into the yank stuff. Some amazing modelling to be seen from all over the world.

Some decent power on it too! CM Concepts offer the bits needed to model it in HO scale. http://www.con-sys.com/aircraft_parts.htm
Would love to do one myself someday but I bet getting them around the curves would be a nightmare!
A bit of background on why they are transported by rail http://www.b737.org.uk/production.htm
Another impressive load is the wind turbine components

Can anyone tell me if there is a preserved KD. If there is where could I go to see it.
From that oh so accurate source, wikipedia
KD 353 is now undergoing restoration at the Irish National Transport Museum in Howth, Co. Dublin, where KD59 also resides as a spares vehicle.
KD 70 was housed at the now defunct Glasgow Bus Museum but is since understood to have been scrapped.
KD 221 is so far the only member of its class to be fully restored.
KD 184 is in derelict condition at Kells Transport Museum in Cork.
KDs 156, 199, 236 and 241 are in private ownership
Would love another spin on one myself. Miss them, KCs, Ds and RHs.

It is if you live outside Dublin, it could be two trains. It would get more visitors if it was in the city centre between additional passing trade and tourists who don't fancy a day trip out of the city centre just to see a model railway. If it were in the city centre they could combine it with other sightseeing.
-
Ah how I miss those days...
-
A city centre location would've surely been more accessible and profitable for it rather than having it out in county Dublin. More transport links, tourist accommodation etc.
-
Fran your killing me mate. Why can't we have nice liveries like that over here
I know man, here's another one for you, although not a heritage repaint! Electro Motive are showing off their latest SD70ACe which is compliant with the latest emissions regulations with this slick looking demonstrator which is currently working for NS. http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2779711
And a video of her in action. Personally prefer the ACes to the Gevos, so cannot wait to see them in the heritage paint in the coming weeks...

The HO was produced in 1977 in conjunction with the British stuff by LIMA themselves as their first foray into the Irish/UK markets
It was because of the failure of the HO that LIMA then looked for an Irish involvement so that they would have more feedback etc
I will get to the LIMA/Lexie stuff later in the lesson!
I'll be bringing an apple instead of stale buns with me the next time so.
-
Nice one Dave, keep the history lesson coming! How many sets did Lexie Tynan oversee do you know and was he responsible for the Lima HO stuff?
Miss Katy...
