Maam Cross Connemara Railway Project continues at pace with an early summer opening date to be confirmed in due course.
The volunteer’s erected a wooden fence today to improve the appearance at the entrance to the station,
Some more 804 gravel was spread on the down platform and preparation was made for the arrival of on site WCs which will shortly be delivered to the station.
In the last photo the section signal has been connected and can now be worked by pulling No3 lever in the signal cabin.

Having been inspired by one of Tony Cooke’s photos on the IRRS slide show last night-I recreated the scene earlier on Tara junction….the photo showed a triple header of locomotives consisting of 2x141 coupled to an 001 heading to Northwall from Inchicore to form the evening departures to Westport (2x141s) and the Sligo (001) liner trains

Yes-donated and altered by a good friend-a similar van was used in the 1980s for moving mail bags from Claremorris to Ballina and visa versa off the night mail train to Westport

closer couplings are the Job Noel. lights too. and Bleed through the sides?
Thanks George…yes there was a small amount along the sides but easily solved with black paint-the roof was most noticeable but again sorted with black paint,
West hill wagon works buckeye couplings need to be glued to the underside of the NEM pockets-it will cause the coaches to derail otherwise if inserted into the NEM

What's the difference between a B4 and a B5?
Should the generator vans have one B4 and one B5?
Gen vans had B5s-coaches had B4s

Hi Noel, I decided to read over the complete thread (yes all 70 pages) to see how it began, only to see that page one contains pics of an already existing layout. Although this was back in 2012 I am just wondering if you had images posted elsewhere of the beginnings of the layout?
Hi Derek
Thanks for taking the time to view all of the pages….the layout on page one was constructed back in 2006…and was a learning curve for me…a subsequent marriage and house move meant that Tara junction no1 was scrapped and the mistakes learned from it were corrected and the present layout was built during 2014/15,
I did take photos of the layout back then and they were posted to a former railway modeller forum now non existent from what I can see.

The wagon looks well with the keg cages,
Having worked the real Guinness trains back in the day may I ask is there under frame detail ? , e.g brake cylinders and brake gear rigging, the under frame looks very bare without it,see the attached photo for details-otherwise well done Owen-it’s a badly needed wagon for my era of modelling.
