Theres a goldmine of info on there, some excellent photos as well i regulary use it for all different things.
-
Not a bad idea if it keeps a few lima models knocking around for a few more years.
-
I remember watching a documentary on one of the other luxury trains & they mentioned the weight of the coaches which was eye watering. I presume the toilet facilities will be better than the old mk3 set up, i presume there ll be more need for water storage & waste storage especially with the overnight capacity etc.
-
Hence i said fixtures & fittings....
-
Nice bit of footage, some nice detail footage of the ammonias which will come in handy.
-
If one of the MkIIIs has significant modifications to make it an ‘Observation Coach’, such as fitting windows in the end as per the Belmond brochure, then the coach would have to go through the approval process with the Railway Safety Commission and this can take some time.
I was thinking along the same lines plus with all the luxury fittings and fixtures wouldn t the coaches weight be a factor?

A little progress with the tara, only the bottom support ribbing on both sides & 1 bulkhead detail to do. Still on track to having her finished by sunday night.
Seen that Mrs R was out with her cronies i continued on & now have all the outer ribs & supports done .
I ve used evergreen 121, 142 & 153 for the supports but i need to sand them down a bit to blend them in with the rest of the structure, the rest is just plasticard, a butchered hornby freightliner from the spares box, genesis rectangle buffers and mir bogies.
Tommorows jobs a little sanding, a bit of painting and adding a few little details.
Sundays job decals and finito .

Nice pics Kieran, nice to see some detailed pics of the 201's, they ll come in handy for the modelling.
-
They have apid for the overhaul of 216 and another, as yet unidentified, 201. Locos will have IÉ Crew and be maintained and owned by IÉ
Think the odds on favourite for that is 225, from the pics i ve seen 230 is the spare parts for both 225 & 216.

Im pretty sure one of the 071's is fitted with the ni systems it could be an option? As for the 111 class having not much to do, i remember seeing both 113/112 being at limerick junction at the same time in 2003.

Quick update ,
Maeve waiting on a royal scot chassis to arrive
Glounthaune station building few bits left and it ll be done.
tara wagons will be finished by the end of the weekend
bubbles need to get transfers although weathering the bajaysus out of them is still an option.
Timber wagons waiting on buffers and a few little bits.
Have my eye on a few other projects, theres a little tank loco with a cork/limerick/waterford connection hiding in its bachy box to start with , the rest are mainly wagons which will emerge in due course
-
Des, I d be interested in the chassis too a & c. As for power options i dont see the point in using ringfields in particular & would rather see an all wheel modern set up whether it be using bachy/athearn etc.
Dhu varren excellent work on the chassis & looking forward to seeing the end result

Very true Kevin, the original waterford made stuff is even more expensive thankfully mrs r & i got a load of it as presents over the years (must cash in & spend the proceeds wisely in other collectables:trains: ) . Often laugh when i see people buying siucra, jacobs etc which used to be irish companies but aren t now. They could also come to Waterford to see the grave of Henry Denny the father of the Denny sausage and look at the semi mothballed line to Belview & South Wexford which runs within meters of the grave!!!

The original factory has been sold and subsequently demolished, crystal is still manufactured in the new visitors centre in the city centre plus theres several ex crystal workers that own workshops in town and are producing to the same quality as what was made in Waterford crystal in its hey day. Most waterford crystal that is produced now isn t made in Waterford but in eastern europe.

Check the wiring as well especially on 071,s as the wires can get caught when putting the hood back on.
-
Back then my three favourite places to catch the numerous freight diagrams were limerick junction, Cork kent and gouldings in Waterford. Then again north esk and abbey junction were good spots as well. Waterford was unbelievably busy - lots of liners, cement, fertilisers, grain, beet, guiness. Cork had guiness, cements, liners, ammonias, ferts. After a few hours at limerick junction you d have marked off a lot of loco numbers.
Nice link garfield:tumbsup:

Ah the good auld days, really liked the baby with the three 60ft liner wagons, ideal modelling rake. 3 x hornby freightliners would do the job nicely (could also do the bogies to make it even better)
-
Try & get your hands on Donal Murrays Great Southern railway book theres quite a bit of info on them in it
-
Nice job Anto, really like the rail train
-
They re a minefield, then again 402 done a run from Cork to Dublin in 2hrs 28mins while hauling a special train for the American ambassador on the 20/3/1934.
-
Where are they planning on storing this train when not in use? Not exactly too many secure locations on the network these days.
Inchicore i would presume, their main base is Heuston so itd make sense.
Still wonder why they're not including Waterford or Kilkenny in their tours surely the lure of waterford crystal would raise an eye brow or two among the elite customers they are trying to get to go on these tours

Looks pretty good with the depot buildings perhaps a itg/rpsi outpost? Maybe place a small container at the back for spares for the heritage loco. Really enjoy seeing pics/footage of your layout and you can t beat meeting up with one of the lads for a chat .
