  1. If you look on the home page of their website, you’ll see they are producing three further versions, one with the Z boiler and two with the original boiler.

  2. More than a few years ago Ballyconnell Road was at Railwells and, just like Leslie, I spent most of my time watching it. It may be small but it is beautifully engineered and, most importantly, operated like the real thing. In particular, there is a lot of shunting of freight trains, something that is missing from many exhibits.

  3. I have a video of a cab ride from Waterford to Wellington Bridge and it clearly shows that the road over bridges were built to accommodate double track below even if the earthworks weren’t. The two largest pieces of civil engineering, the Barrow Bridge and Taylorstown viaduct, were built as a single track structures.

  4. The existing loop outside of the train shed is being utilised for platform 6, so, surely, the new entrance to the station took account of this. Well, that’s what sane people would assume. It is such a shame that the lines to the south and west of the city were lost, otherwise Cork could have a heavy rail suburban network second to none.

  5. The other thing that UPS are good at is losing expensive parcels, while EVRI seem to be up to their old tricks again in UK, not delivering parcels but keeping them at their depot. Nothing to do with Brexit, just useless companies.
