So the 2700 railcars are being put to good use after death.

I went on Saturday, not my normal day but my son came up from Plymouth this time so Saturday it was. It didn’t appear to be as crowded as previous years but a lovely day out nonetheless. It’s just a shame it is so expensive. Parking in Birmingham International station helped keep the cost down a bit.

Your work rate is quite something.

Most would seem to be in the order of 40’-45’ diameter.

Following its closure to passengers in the late 1930’s, Broadstone was a loco and wagon maintenance facility until it’s closure in the early 1960’s. Apart from the removal of track in the passenger station, how much else was removed prior to final closure. It would make a rather interesting model loco depot.

They may have sold out but there are a number on eBay, as are MM 121 class.

Its hard to know but leaving aside the commuter potential Youghal is a domestic tourist honey trap for 9 months of the year, and bursting at the seams with domestic visitors. Rail link to Dublin via Cork opens up more economic potential for the hospitality and tourism sector. The Cobh line is hopping. Its amazing Dublin folks with the travel pass can go to Cobh for lunch. Last time we stayed in Cobh about 4 years ago, the place was buzzing, I'd hazzard half the folks were tourists.
The CBSC west cork railways are lost beyond redemption but can you imagine the success today if rail link out to Kinsale, Baltimore, Courtmacsherry, Clonakilty, and Bantry still existed even with just frequent 2 car DMU sets.
Imagine, if you will, how different things might have been if the Cork City Railway had been built along the lines of the link line in Dublin ie a double track elevated railway, allowing a better connection between the railways of west Cork and the rest of the network. A good prototype for a model railway me thinks.

Re-opening should act as a catalyst for new investment in the Youghal area in terms of housing, employment and, not least, tourism.

The trouble with all the delivery companies is that they have made themselves uncontactable when there are problems.

I’ve had both surgery and radiotherapy as part of cancer treatment but chemo is in a different league. Keep strong and you’ll come out the other side. My very best wishes.

Weren’t there plans to use it on the Loughrea branch?

It’s nice to see a reasonable length freight train running on a model railway.

That’s very sad news as I have nothing but praise for what you have produced. Please find a way to continue producing such fine models, which are much in demand.

He was a modeller extraordinaire and will be sadly missed. His prose was very readable.

Their first non modern image wagon and it’s a southern wagon. Brilliant.

If the Cork city railway had been elevated rather than at ground level, there’s no telling what might have happened, all sorts of connecting services with maybe the west Cork lines staying open. Oh, the power of imagination.

I think the link will explain everything. Happy reading.

A combination of home and starter signals.

It’s the inconsistency that gets me. The first time I bought from John in NZ, I had to pay a whole load of import, for want of a better expression, but the second time there was nothing to pay. Either way, the models were worth the wait. Thanks John.

Yes, it was the photographer I was referring to as Mr Wright. He appears on his own layout Little Bytham complete with camera.

Sadly RMweb has become virtually unusable

I view rmweb on an iPad and the advert situation is destroying my enjoyment of the site. This has been raised with the powers that be and they are less than receptive. There are some on this site who can corroborate this. Long live IRM.
