Industrial locomotives on the move.
Penrhyn Castle plans to share more about its industrial history in a new experience as it rehomes some of its locomotives

Saw the mk2s in Marks Models today. The orange roof carriages looked impressive. The gangways on some of Galway liveried ones were light grey while others were black. Is this another error?

Hi guys,
It may have been discussed before but what was the standard consist of a Galway Livery train?
Were they Galway coaches ever used in mixed trains of MK2 after?
-
I'd love to see a guard's van (with working lamps of course) to go with the bulleid and other freight wagons.

That signal is there for decoration, no counterweight, no pulleys, no wires running to it.
Am unsure if WSVR pit it there or it was in situ when CIE abandoned the station.

Interestingly, there was a semaphore signal placed in that location some time later.
Am not sure if that has any connection to the item shown.

Hi folks,
Can anyone advise what the piece of infrastructure is, outlined in green?
I am guessing it is a platform for the signalman to hand over the ETS token to a driver?
Are there any other photos of such infrastructure or plans? It is nit very clear in the photo.
From facebook.

I was critical of the posters whinging about "The Heritage Office/IE" and not looking at the bigger picture, not your reporting that cabin is being removed in connection with planned development of the new station.
The cabin is a small timber framed structure and fairly easy to move/re-locate without damage.
I am not sure if the lever frame is intact, when I last visited the cabin about 20 years ago it was being used simply as a crossing cabin to control the Level Crossing, possibly 2 levers controlling the distant signals protecting the crossing
Block Instruments and signal interlocking controlling the Junction with the New Ross Line and Frank Cassin Wharf had been removed
Believe 4 levers left and some of the mechanism below. Inspecting of the timbres is due to be undertaken this week. Unsure how much is worth saving. Windows are basic aluminium frames. Wooden sills and panelling fairly rotten.

With the closure of the New Ross line and the planned new development of a station opposite the clock tower in Waterford as part of the North Quays development, Abbey Junction Signal Box is soon to be removed by the contractors, BAM.

I was there a while back and was also surprised at the state of buildings and station area in general. I hope everything is ok with the owner, Jackie.
