  1. Another example of mixed rolling stock. This time Cobh May 1971.

The train consists of what may be a 1953 built standard, a Park Royal, a "Dutch van" and a "Craven

    B177 in Cobh

And a double headed 121 set with what looks like Cravens and Park Royals on the way to Rosslare from Dublin 1987.

    130 entering Wicklow

Limerick Junction to Limerick train in 1993 I believe.

    155 Limerick Jn 191093

And finally a mix of Cravens and Park Royals at Tralee, 1984.

  2. Another lovely photo from Rosslare in 1987.

The train on the left, headed by two of CIE's 121 class locomotives, is bound for Dublin (Connolly), while the train on the right is for Cork.

Would these have been the suburban types or the mainline with toilets?

Really need those Tin Vans or a 6 wheel Heating and Luggage Van please IRM!!!!!

I agree all should be encouraged but it’s also not sensible to assume that a RTR manufacturer won’t get to a prototype that runs with the RPSI in time. I can promise several things next year, including steam, but the j15 will not be coming from IRM in the next 24 months.
Hope that clarifies what I mean by ‘never say never’.

Thanks for making that clear, it will help a lot of us here.

I think new disruptive manufacturers like accurascale has shaken up the Uk significantly and the offshoot has been more Irish models as a result!

I think the work IRM and Paddy Murphy have done has created  / demonstrated a viable market with loyal collectors. The range of models available, especially the recent A Class has been a game changer.

I've a pair of the 1970 variants in ST livery. I use them as scenic yard waste (ie rusting lines). Worthless IMHO, except for nostalgia reasons. CIE never ran anything that looked even vaguely like them. Just BR Blue class 33s covered with orange paint. Awful runners, they can do scale speeds of 200mph and sound like tractors as all junk heap Lima's of that vintage did.

I have about 10 of these Lima BR Mk1s also. Again CIE had nothing like this except for highly modified BSK/BCK GSV (generating and heating vans), but these BR Mk1s don't even pass as Cravens or Liminates at 10ft rule. Only reason I keep them boxed away is childhood nostalgia as I bought these in the 1970s.

Same, nostalgia is a strong driver of collecting.

    Awesome!!!!!!!

Just so you know, the empty flats don't show up under the Container Liner heading, but do show under the general wagon collections heading.

Thats a difficult one to answer 174 made it into full IR livery prior to its withdrawal in sometime circa 1993 there are other examples of 141's in STIR livery up to 1991 /1992 if not beyond.

One question I forgot to ask yesterday when visiting Paddy Murphy's stand was the ETA on the 141/181 class additions.

When I asked Paddy he said hopefully sometime next year but the manufacturer has warned of production challenges.

These will appear before the MK3 as the driver cab is proving a real challenge.
