  1. Nothing like sitting back on a DD speeding through stations.
  2. I sat in a Park Royal Coach No. 1944 in Downpatrick back in August, And I have to say, they are so comfortable. Unfortunately I have not had the pleasure to travel in 728 yet but I hope to soon. The DDs are my personal favourite, find the seats comfortable, but I cannot unfortunately say the same for the Irish Rail Mark 2 or Mark 3 (I never travelled in them) have not tried the Mark 4's, 2600s or 2800s yet. When I got an ICR to Dublin on the 1035 ex Belfast in November 2022, it was interesting, but I got a bit of a sore back from the seats (and there was a queue for the bathroom onboard)!!!
  3. Lets see... 29000 railcar? To be honest, the 29000s are great commuter trains, but I am not too sure I would like from Belfast to Dublin... unless they were to send an 8 car set up... that would be good.
  4. It would have been nice to get a spin on the Gatwicks...
  5. Yes... To be honest, The Gatwicks were only in passenger service for seven years, first journey on 10 June 2002 on the 1714 GVS to Newry, to their final journey on the 0750 Portadown to Belfast Central on 18 June 2009. If only the Gatwicks were used on the now 0800 from Portadown to Lanyon Place, and the 1637 Bangor to Newry, I would have loved a trip on the Gatwicks from Lanyon to Newry, and to get the set leaving on the 1850 x Newry... @NIRCLASS80 did the Gatwicks ever operate passenger services on the Bangor line?
  6. The last operational day of GVS is now planned to be 10th May (was 5th) then trains will continue through directly between city hospital and Adelaide until line closure between LP and Lisburn from July, subject to adjustments for where each service will terminate. Lanyon Place and Botanic likely to see increased numbers of boarding alighting passengers. Then BGCS opens in September. Bus subs will be in place during line closures
  7. Appreciated @Flying Snail
  8. Does anyone know what is going to happen to the ex NIR Gatwick coaches at Whitehead?
  9. What is the Irish Rail FOI address?
  10. Does anyone know where the best place to photoshop train liveries is? I have a few ideas...
  11. A photo I found of GM8113 in Dublin in April 2007 Credit to The Wanderer (click on photo) To be honest it's a shame that the Gatwicks only lasted eight years in service (2001 - 2009) Would they have still been in operation if the DVT arrived? Thanks
  12. What CAFs are based in Portadown?
  13. @NIRCLASS80 will the 1023 at Moira get me to Portadown tomorrow to see the 1109 ex Portadown departing and see the 0930 ex Dublin arriving?
  14. Nice!! PS: That was an April fools joke about the 0735 today being a 2/3 car DD.
  15. The 0735 ex Connolly Enterprise today was this!!! Or was it...? 01/04/24...

  18. Also, as I type this at 12.40pm, I am working on an Enterprise substitution document, however, it will ONLY cover failures from 01/01/2022 to 31/12/2022 (I will start work on a 2023 one afterwards) then 2024 failures...
  19. The December line closure is still showing.
  20. I will make my last trip to GVS before then - Might see the 2005 ex Belfast leaving Lanyon Place on 10 May (is it the last ex Belfast train from Lanyon Place)?
  21. No idea then. See what happens!
  22. 07.35 Connolly/Belfast is currently delayed at Dundalk due to a technical issue. Update to follow.
