  1. In this months model rail there is a feature on modelling the Belmond Grand Hibernian. George Dent converts 2 Hornby MK3's to the EGV and the observation car. He has also resprayed a MM 201 to 216. He does mention briefly using Railtech decals but I checked their website and found no trace. There is not great detail on how he went about the conversions but it may inspire someone on here, myself included, to give it a go.
  2. In the mid 80's my parent's myself and my sister were walking back into town (Mohill) after visiting my grandparents. About half way my sister, who was still in a pushchair started pointing saying "look at the train". She was pointing in the direction of the field where the C&L left Mohill heading for Dromad. Obviously there was nothing there as the line had been lifted 25 years beforehand. Being in a pushchair she would have been far too young to understand the line used to run there. I don't remember the incident myself as I was still young but even now my parents get chills when they remember it.
  3. Typical when I'm not home this weekend. I was home last weekend and saw the old goods shed getting a tidy up. The greenway, as far as I know, is planned to go North out of town and therefore wouldn't affect the line from Dromad. It is a lack of money and will that would prevent the line from being reopened and I'm sure the people who's driveway's and garden's the line would have to cross near Dromad would have something to say too not to mention the farmers. Hopefully it will be a great weekend and I've no doubt there'll be loads of craic to be had.
  4. Something in the last couple of years, possibly based on somewhere like Tullamore or Roscommon but nothings set in stone yet.
