  1. As David has said, there are already 2 main manufactures producing wagons both RTR and kits, Irish freight models and Provincial Wagons, and with the market for wagons realativly low, 2 manufactures who are producing the main wagons seems to be enough, so other manufactures doing repeats of the same wagon would be quite pointless but anyone who wants to produce different wagons would be greatly welcomed I'm sure by all.

  2. Hello Noel, I'm an amateur but here's how I'd approach this project.

    Q1) yes you should

Q2) I use halfords grey plastic primer and have had no troubles what so ever, I use it straight from the can and it provides a very smooth uniform coat every time, but bare in mind that the colour of the undercoat/primer will affect the shade of the final coat so always check and test that the primer and top coat are going to end up the colour you want.

Q3) I would sand the emblem and lining with probably 1000 grade (or more) sandpaper, just to make sure that nothing shows through.

So there's how I'd tackle this, but perhaps an expert will offer more advice than myself,

Have fun and I hope it goes well,

    Nelson

    Hello everyone,

Not much done to the engine except it's primer coat has been applied, I've been stuck in bed all week with some sort of flu/fever so that's why. And to make things even better the tender dropped out of my hands taking off the steps and weight inside. Ah well. We learn from our mistakes I guess and from the primer coat it's easy to see what areas need to be improved before the black goes on.

  4. Hello everyone, I need some GNR transfers for my engine, mainly the letters "GNR" and the number "10". I've checked with studio scale models and they don't have what I need and I'm unsure about the new railtec transfers, so if anyone knows any other company that sells GNR transfers be sure to let me know, or if anyone has any experience with the railtec ones, I'll be interested in hearing from your experiences of them,

    Thanks

    Nelson

Ps: I'm going to check all the mainland GNR transfers and see if anything suits but I highly doubt it.

  5. Thank you very much everyone for your comments, I'll probably get it painted on Monday as im busy all weekend :( then weathering and more detailing is to go on :) the next project is going to be sitting my exams, so no more after this one till the exams are over, but I'm sure what I have in mind for after the exams will be something special :D Nelson

  6. They certainly were Nelson and were even around in steam days.Depending on how each economy was doing, shoppers would go either way for bargains, although my memories from the 70s and 80s are from shoppers from the south coming north for bargains. In the early 80s, I had work friends from Balbriggan and Dublin who would come north in the train, get their bargains for their kids from places like Argos, drop them of at my house,go home in the train with nothing to declare and I would bring their goods down in the car a couple of weeks later!

Never knew that, fantastic, thank you very much for filling me in.
