Thank you Kirley, I'll definitely be buying more for the future.

Thank you Hunslet, I'm currently undertaking a conversion of a C class into a GNRI PG class, but I don't see it being finished anytime soon, I still need to collect a lot of parts to make it happen. But in the meantime I've been working away on some wagons which just need a day of good weather so I can spray them.

Lovely model frank

Thanks for correcting me Colm, I'm such amateur haha, and that's a great pic JB, you don't mind if I save them for personal use?

Great pic of draperstown

Amazing work on those coaches, truly amazing

To me this is fantastic news, although 3D printing isn't quite perfect yet this is very promising for the future, take a look http://www.steamtrainsireland.com/news/ the RPSI are taking scans of 10 vehicles and using it for their museum but also as stated "This project can also be seen as a pilot for making the entire RPSI collection accessible digitally. These assets may also have the potential to generate income for the RPSI through generating small scale models for sale, virtual objects or perhaps future files for 3D printing." Are possibly making 3D printed models to sell, and maybe one day you can print out your very own GNRI V class

Very true John, something for the future. The book "UTA in colour" covers this topic quite well and provides livery details for the 3 engines.
-
Thanks Kirley, I like the livery a lot.

Amazing work

Thanks everyone, I appreciate your comments, the lining transfers are fox transfers and they are rather tricky to apply and take a while to get the transfer where you want, although when you get past all that they do look the part and when varnished, blend in nicely.

Hello Gentlemen,
Mock exams are over and I have about a month of freedom now until the next exams are up, but for the past few slow months I've been working on this, it's a 2P conversion into a NCC U2 class, one of the early ones with extended cab roof, and she is in UTA experimental olive Green livery, I've used railmatch paints and lining transfers for the lining, even tho I did buy a lining pen it wasn't very successful so I'll need more practise with it, but until then it's transfers for now. Only 1 U2 class was painted in this livery and it was very short lived, the other 2 locos that received experimental green were a mogul and jeep, all 3 locos done in differnt shades of green. The loco is now ready to go back to it's original owner.
Sorry for the poor quality of pics, dunno what's up with the camera.
Many thanks
Nelson

Very sorry to hear this JB.

Maybe "rare" would have been a better word than "collectors"
Do you know how many different wagons were made by MIR Wrenneire? It's a pity they aren't still going.
-
As do slaters, I'd love to try an MIR kit but wouldn't risk building one of these "collectors" items

Riversuir226 is correct, the pics that I've posted are from Belfast, York road and the harbour lines

Hello gentlemen,
Some of you may already know what I'm on about but for those who don't, this is a great website that has lots of overhead images taken before and after the war of places all across Britain and some in Ireland, it is heaven if you find a track plan of a certain station you want to model, or what a certain goods yard looks like, all images are free to view, although if you make an account you can help others by identifying a certain picture and commenting on what it shows.
These are just 3 out of thousands that I've used as an example.
I've seen images of when the camera low down right beside a train, so there really is a huge range of images, something for everyone.
Click this link to go to the "Britain From Above" website and get searching, http://www.britainfromabove.org.uk/
I hope this comes in handy for some people as I know it's helped me lots,
Enjoy
Nelson
Bear in mind that its not only railway pictures so It can take some time to find something that is railway related, but using the search bar function is great and should speed the process up.

Thank you gentlemen I appreciate your comments

Hello everyone.
Hello everyone.
Well it's been weeks since I've done any modelling, Christmas came and went, new year came and went and now I'm back to school
so yeah, oh and did I mention exams are coming up lol, so I've been revising and just overall very busy so literally no modelling has been done except this wee thing that took ages to do, but it's now done and I thought Id show you guys. I won't be doing anything until the exams are done and I have a few railway projects planned for then, so until then.
Happy new year

Thanks, Nelson. I've been comparing my photos of the PW GNR brake van with yours on your workbench thread (which looks fantastic). Could you give me any advice about how you painted yours? I have been spraying with the Halfords undercoat grey (on Leslie's recommendation) which does match the stock I'll be running this with but also collects at the bottom of each side. Thanks!
I use the exact same stuff as yourself (halfords grey plastic primer), and I spray it on in maybe 4 to 6 very light coats at a fair distance away, but not too far away, the first 2 coats will make the model look absolutely rubbish but don't worry let it to dry and add another light coat on top, and repeat. then when your happy with the colour/coverage, you can stop
hope this helps, another tip is to build most of the model up and then spray the colour you want this gives you am even smooth coating all round without unsightly different coloured joins. Looking at your vans again they are very nicely done and I don't see a problem with them, you should be proud of your models there.
Just another thing I forgot to mention is, when spraying make sure that your spraying directly onto the face/side of the model in smooth sweeping motion, this also ensures an even coverage and makes sure that the sides of the supports aren't missing any paint.
