Hello everyone, 

I just want to say on behalf of my father and his Evenwood layout a huge thank you to those who supported the project. It has been quite the undertaking and we are extremely happy to be able to present it at the North Down show. 

The project was originally conceived ten years ago with the construction of station building and signal box, it was only last year that we realised that we needed to really push forward and complete the project, using the 200 year of the S&DR as motivation. The layout is roughly 95% complete, with just signals, footbridge and terrace housing requiring completion, which we hope to do so soon. 

We hope that everyone who observed the layout over the weekend enjoyed it, and we thank those who shared their memories of the surrounding area. The layouts next outing has not been confirmed, but a running video will be created and uploaded to YouTube. 

I have seen Buggleskelly Station release a statement on this over on Facebook, ceasing their trade with Northern Ireland. 
 

Seems very strange that it is only online orders being affected, whereas if you were to enter GB via boat or plane, you could easily make a purchase and bring it back, makes no sense to me personally. 

Lovely muted colours and the way it blends all together! Brilliant.

That is looking brilliant, another superb model I’m the works soon to be complete! 

It is a 7 1/4” gauge model which used to run at Drumawhey Junction many years ago. It has since moved on as far as I am aware. 
 

Two exist, one complete, the other partly built. Two hunslet locomotives also exist in 7 1/4” gauge, both fully complete.

Looking forward to this one too! I will point out for anyone not aware, that the above drawing is not the most accurate, mainly the side profile of the tanks have been omitted entirely.

I recently came across this footage on YouTube of the very line covered in this thread, but from an earlier period. It features a mixture of liveries so could be from anywhere between 1923 and 1930s? Very crisp imaging which is great for viewing. The clip starts at the one minute mark.

It was lovely to see you again Patrick and to see Brookhall Mill now on the exhibition circuit! 

I have to agree with what others have said above, 3D printing has huge potential, especially resin printing which leaves very little visible print lines and fine detail. The models pictured above look great!

Where did you get the figures from? They look the part too.

I was able to take a picture of the livery diagram for the new Y class and I think it will look rather smart.

I can confirm the DART was operational and worked quite nicely. We got the bus from Belfast into the city centre, then DART from Tara St to Blackrock, then using Booterstown(?) on the way back. 

My guess is a wagon of some sort... the two gatherings of black/grey pixels being buffer heads, then the white pixels on top being a prototype body shell.

Hello all, 

I noticed this advertised in the recent Railway Modeller, a commissioned Rapido model based on the Will Hay film “Oh Mr Porter”, adjourned with the fictional lettering of the Southern Railway Northern Ireland.

if I remember correctly there are various carts in the Ulster Folk Museum. There are scale models to demonstrate farming methods in the Ulster Folk side (one of the gallery buildings) and full size examples at the Transport side of the museum, at the bottom in the “land, sea, air” galleries. 

I must admit to being one of the guilty party  in asking to see pictures of the layout and I’m glad I did! This layout is just wonderful in every way, the detail, the colour and superb rolling stock is a delight to look at. Thank you for sharing.
