  1. Very short video

[/QUOTFor those who were not able to go to the show, thanks BK for posting this. I really enjoyed it:tumbsup:
  2. Hi Rich,

Thanks for your interest and your comments. I look forward to seeing you build this kit. Even though I like the bachmann scenecraft Irish outline buildings they are very limited in number and except for the smallest of displays I would need something more anyway. It would be nice to be able to put something on the layout with more of an Irish flavor Hopefully they are reasonably durable over time and do not fade to easily I guess they could always be replaced in time if required.

    Kevin

  3. I am looking to acquire some of the Bachmann Scenecraft Irish Outline Buildings (one or more)

    44-250 Bachmann Irish Signal Box

    44-251 Bachmann Irish Running Shed

    44-252 Bachmann Irish Station Building

There has not been a squeak anywhere with regard to the engine shed and the station in two months I have managed to pick up two signal boxes.

For the love of God, if you find either the engine shed or the station at the show tomorrow, would you just buy them for me, PM me and I'll see you right.

In the unlikely event that more than one of you manage to find one or more of the items I will see you both right including postage to the US!

    Thanks,

    Kevin

  4. The trouble was is and will be the scale of the market. 500 locos of a livery ( sometimes half that) sell 'just about right' here while the big lads in the UK will run thousands of a single run and sell them too.

BK, I understand that economies of working with a limited audience and agree with you. Despite their initial foray into Irish outline with PM they did not do a 500 limited run at least while PM is 'competing' for this small market. Hence my original concern, with only one real RTR producer, Irish outline rtr would be plunged back into the medieval ages :praying:(and no offence is intended to some on here who produce some very fine kits and those who model them)

  5. Raise the edges of the building with balsa or plasticard would be the best way id say :)

What track code are you using?

You could make a foundation slab with the polyfilla large enough to be the floor and a peripheral foundation for the shed itself to raise it back to rail height. I suspect that this will provide enough clearance for the 201s. The slab foundation will look well with the face of the shed which appears to resemble concrete and the side which is brick could be painted as a plinth, disguised with brick plasticard, shielded with ballast along the side tapering from the shed to road 5, or weeds and 'scrubby plants'.

  6. From our brief chat with him, much the same as already posted here recently by others. New batch of mk2d coaches in CIE 'Supertrain' livery (ie orange and black, no white lining) due approx December or January with complete set of coaches to make up typical eight coach set including EGV, restaurant car, first class car, etc. 121 is on the 'radar' but it is very early stages yet. It was a pleasure to chat with the gentleman.

But no discussion of an A class or anything to follow the 121? We have all got so used to the MM models that I wonder who would pick the baton if anything happened to PM. Even though Bachmann did many of the earlier models for him, its not like they decided there was a market for modeling Irish outline after that…..

  7. Just looked at the stats for the Lima / Murphy Models thread in the Photos of Models forum

    300,000+ hits

So I am not the only sad bastard who checks out the box and contents of RTR Irish models

    Cheers troops

Since all the moderators seem to be on this thread, can I just ask if it is possible to search these longer Threads and find the search term on the actual page rather than just the thread its in which might be 100 pages long or am I just not doing it right?

  8. It's common cortuesy to phrase a question/request correctly. It can come across ignorant or rude otherwise. A properly formed sentence isnt too much to ask for, is it?

Shouldn't be and if requested as Gaeilge that would even be acceptable given the selection of fine Irish speakers on the site

  9. I suppose this means we can expect another batch of 201's from MM...... :)

I hope not! When I suggested that a re-run of some more popular sold out items might be feasible, I received some replies suggesting the tooling etc for small runs like MM does would not be up to it. Seems like the tooling for the 201s seems to be up to the task again… and again… and maybe yet again?

  10. Mk3's were borderline structurally sound for 4'8". They were in the danger zone once engineers realised that an additional 5" were added to their width, without the calcs being done. Whilst i love them, they were unsound. And that comes from an outside IE consultant engineer, who i'd swear my life on.

I agree with Noel. I had always hoped to see a high(er) speed network built during the Celtic Tiger, the only chance they'd ever have to do this. Most of the existing fleet capable of 100mph but on a tiny minority of the existing track, let alone trying to lay any new track. However, I don't know which is worse lamenting the loss of the Mk3s or IE not having learned from the Buttevant disaster re structural integrity of the coaches and running them all these years, luckily without incident,I think?

  11. Had a good look at the new releases today and was pretty impressed with all of them. 230 is now on the workbench after her long trek back from the rebel county and shes a cracker well worth the wait & price.

Think i ve done my bit with 10 mm 201's & another mystery "black box" that her ladyship picked up in the big smoke on Friday (it better be 233, goodness knows i gave enough hints :) )

201s are not really my thing but I'm thinking about one and Bandon is in Munster.... (yes, I guess you all knew that already)
