  1. There was a great article on Albert Quay including a track layout in one of the Irwell Press magazines and Ernie Shepherds CBSCR (Ian Allen Publishing) includes a lot of good photos of the system in both the steam and diesel era

If anyone has a copy of this is good condition that you're willing to part with at a fair price, would you please PM me?

    Thank you

    Kevin:trains:

  2. Mike,

I am also interested in CBSCR. If you're in West Cork and snap any photos, upload them here or PM me for an email address if that is easier. If you're on the Cork-Bandon road and can shoot any photos of the stone bridges at Half Way, the river bridge crossing at Inishannon or the embankment with road tunnels before reaching Bandon that would be great. Thanks if you can.

    Kevin

  3. And with the Chinese economy where it's at and heading the days of 150 euro for a decent model are fast steaming into the distance.

I disagree. We just need to interest the 1.3 billion Chinese with their new found wealth into modeling Irish outline models for nostalgic reasons, produce everything large scale and we can get the price down ;)

  4. It's fair to say the 121 and 001 are the 'most hotly anticipated' models, but primarily due to the amazing job Mr. Murphy has accomplished to date on everything else! He truly does spoil us, and 201 admirer or no, the best way to fund / encourage those models is to ensure the current releases shift!

I have collected seventeen MM locomotives since I started back into (now) Irish outline very recently. Only three of these are presently available for purchase at RRP. Every other locomotive has been purchased used for at least the original price or substantially greater than that from a variety of sellers on this site, associated with this site,or on eBay. I have now supported Murphy Models, the priginal model shop/vendor, and the subsequent owner/seller. I expect all who are now flush with my hard earned cash, to support BK and purchase 201s so that I can finally buy a 121!:-bd

  5. Hi Noel I am aware there are proxy services but was a little unsure about downloading their programming onto my Mac. Do you have any experience of these that are adware/malware/virus free?

  6. They are very blue alright. Painting them sounds like a plan!

The earlier liveried Cravens that MM produced have a different colored seating. A kind of brown, I think....

The early livery has a more red-brown color while the later liveried interiors are blue.

  7. I ve most of the track plans for the stations drawn out on anyrail if you want them give us a shout. The lifting of the lines is very well covered by both Colm Creedon and Ernie Shephard in their books on the line the latter one is very good and more importantly copies are still available. If your looking for more pics of the line or the remains of it give us a shout and i ll be glad to help in whatever way i can.

As for my plan, its a what if , based in the near past after track and branchline rationalisation but still have a sense of place using Charles Nixons designed bridges (not viaducts, how i wish i had the space) to set the scene and using old pics & new to model the countryside and the engineering that when t into the building of the line . What i can actually fit into a 8ft x 4ft space is open for discussion :) .

Some terrific bridges and tunnels on that line. Must go and look at them whenever I get back to the old country.

  8. The orange roof IR/IE Mk2Ds are the hardest and rarest models to find. Standards 5229 and 5236 are like gold dust. I managed to spy 5236 in one of Mr Bracken's collections over a year ago and I said just name your price. The black rook IE standards 5210 and 5217 are easy to find though, don't seem to be as popular which I find a bit odd.

5229 is not fully sold out and us still available from vendors such as Hattons and maybe you side of the Irish Sea. 5236 seems to be hard to come by though. I wonder if there are more of these orange roofs to come since most of us would want to run a rake longer than two coaches and a GV

  9.

Well, it's a hobby that you can make money from. I think I'll bid on it anyway (I always wanted to help finance someone's retirement, although I had rather hoped it would be mine)
