Welcome Glenderg
Great to see you over here!
The mobile/tablet version is nice and clean - makes surfing on my phone a doddle too!
Agreed... looks good on my iPhone.
-
I'll also post a quick tutorial on how to use a third party image host, if that helps...[/QUTE]
that would be great garfield...like eamonn, im not too well up on the computers and every little helps!
Seamus, I've posted a new thread with the tutorial and made it a 'sticky' topic, so it'll be easy to find for future reference.
-
1. Go to the image host's website (TinyPic is good and easy to use).
2. Click 'choose file' and select the image you want to use and click 'open'.
3. The file name will now appear in the appropriate field. Click 'upload now'.
4. In the pop-up window, fill out the 'captcha' security code and click 'upload now'.
5. Once the image is uploaded, you will be given a number of link options. Select 'IMG Code for Forums and Message Boards' and copy the code.
6. Paste the code into your forum post and you're ready to go!

I'll also post a quick tutorial on how to use a third party image host, if that helps...

An easy way to get around this is to upload to a 3rd party image host (I find http://www.tinypic.com handy), who will provide a link so you can use the image here. Use the link with the
tags and paste it into your post.

I'd doubt the engine sound on the A class would differ much between 25mph and 60/70mph, as it depends on throttle position and load, rather than speed. Same story with the 071... they can be seen at low speeds, with full throttle and turbo screaming.
-
Wow, looks tasty!
-
Nice. The DDA40X just about squeeze into the timeline I'm aiming for with my UP N scale stuff... although the Sprectrum loco would need a bit of work to bring it up to standard.
-
Still contemplating a Genesis DDA40X when they come out. Expensive, with two motors and two sound chips, but awesome locos! Trouble is they usually ran in pairs with a SD40-2, so I'd have to buy two!

Doesn't a single Centennial haul the UP directors' specials? That'd be an excuse to just buy one - although you'd then have to pick up a rake of coaches instead!

Lovely model, Fran. I have a soft spot for the Union Pacific GTELs.
What are the chances of a 'Big Blow' model hitting the shelves?
-
eamonn, what was the max speed she did while the recording was done?
25mph is the max speed limit on the DCDR, so I'd guess it was pushed up to that. Plenty of time to get in all throttle settings.
I'm sure Enniscorthyman has all the details from the day, though.

Yes Garfield I did
Very effective! Any particular brand you find most effective? The nastier and cheaper the better, right?
-
Wow Garfield that's some price tag
Aye, continental European models are fairly expensive. And some people complain about Murphy Models' prices!
-
Kudos again to NS - another great scheme!
-
Fantastic modelling! I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.
-
Have you seen the LS Models Corails? Best of the bunch!
-
By the way, most importantly, does this station have corail luneas?
Sleeper trains haven't used that route for many, many years now. The only Corails on the route are on three/four coach TER trains...
-
Haha We're thinking of going to Germany this summer anyway! I think it might be Bavaria but I've heard Munich is great for beer!
Fixed your post.

Garfield I was thinking of picking up something like this sometime on eBay what sort of runners are the Jouef locos and what do I need to lookout for.
They remind me when I was 17 and went inter railing around Europe.
Hi Anto,
The locos in those auctions are old Jouef engines, so I'm not sure how well they run. The detailing wouldn't be up to quite the same standards as today's models either. The models they produce now are great runners and have excellent detailing.
Here are the the up-to-date models of those locos:

Roco also produce models of these locos, which are a bit cheaper but may need a little bit of 'hands on' work to get them to the same standard.

I recently came across a company called Absolute Aspects, who produce rather good colour light signals in 4mm scale. They're a perfect match for the modern signals used by IÉ. Their website can be found at www.absoluteaspects.com.

Nice work, Anto! Quick question... did you use the hairspray method to get the chipped look on the cement bubbles?
-
Ooh, what'ya got? The 'goggles' ones are nice, but I really like the City Elefant...
The City Elefant looks similar to to the Z20900 EMUs used on SNCF's Paris suburban services... http://www.flickr.com/photos/13039838@N06/5885768170/
