Can anyone recommend a good Auction house to sell trains?

To be honest you would probably be better off getting in touch with one of the retailers who buy collections and sell secondhand stock. Rails of Sheffield and Ellis Clark are two which come to mind, but there are others. Auctions can be unpredictable, and unless there's something special about a particular model it may have to be listed with little or no reserve, meaning you may end up getting next to nothing for the item if it does sell. -
The Essos were combined with the Sligo liner on occasion, especially during the 1990s. I can still hear the swearing from Sligo crews waiting on the platform waiting to take over from their Connolly counterparts when they spied a cut of tankers on the rear. It meant they were in for a longer shift...

Would you model in 21mm if RTR track and models were readily available?

Re. "fitted" Bulleid opens, I've never seen evidence of any such things. However, a small number of vacuum-braked 20ft flat wagons received open bodies fabricated from the same galvanised panelling with 'extender' sections to cross the gaps at either end. The body sections were likely sourced from scrapped Bulleids.

Hi all, The tracking for those orders activated when the labels were printed rather than when being scanned after dispatch, so the updates are a bit premature. We're looking at a way to avoid this going forward.

Interestingly, I recently saw a photo of one of the ex-GSR Drewry inspection cars painted in Black & Tan livery. Up until that I had thought their final livery was green with Flying Snails on the sides.

It looks like you've made it home safely, Leslie - it was good to see you at the show in Blackrock! There are a few photos of wagons with the Flying Snail on the solebar, including one here: http://www.athyphotos.gallery/railway-station.html It's the second photo on the left - the wagon is behind three members of staff posing for the camera. If you open the image in a new window you can zoom in and see the logo on the side. It's not import duty, it's VAT which is different. By rights, any UK retailer should be removing VAT from the price charged to you if the goods are being shipped to Ireland so you do not end up paying the tax twice on the purchase - as it will be collected by the carrier on behalf of Revenue when the goods are imported into the country. Import duty is a seperate charge applied at varying rates to products which qualify for it. Under WTO agreements, model railway equipment does not incur duty so such charges should not be applied to the goods when being imported.

Ah, so that's where it's ended up! It was used during the construction of the Luas, then spent some time stored at Red Cow, and was most recently spotted in an industrial estate in Portlaoise, not far from the ICR depot. How it looked previously:

Hi Dave, As it was me you were in contact with regarding this, I just want to clarify a few things here. Firstly, it should be pointed out that the reason you contacted us was not warranty-related. Regarding bodies, chassis and bogies, any fundamental issues involving these parts would have been detected within a short space of time after the locos first arrived, and if there were any issues the affected loco(s) would have been set aside and replaced with an equivalent from a reserve we had put in place (in the end this was not required and the reserve stock was released). I did also point out that we have supplies of most other parts available to cater for any warranty cases that arise. We don't offer these parts for sale at present as we have to ensure availability for warranty work for at least 12 months after the very last new A Class model is sold to the end user. One reseller was advertising availability as recently as January, so I'm sure you can appreciate why we need to conserve stocks for so long. However, from posts I've seen elsewhere, I believe the rebuilding of your loco is now substantially complete, so if you want to email me a list of the small parts still required, I'll ask our technician to check these stocks and we'll see if we can make some available for you.

I seem to remember that @David Holman even purchased one of the locomotives... I think one of the layouts was exported to a museum in Norway?

The running costs for a J15 would likely be prohibitive for a preserved line, too.
