  1. It definitely hauled at least one train (possibly a special for CIE bigwigs) from Heuston in that guise.
  2. Don't forget that A1 (minus the 'R' suffix as the rebuild programme was complete) made a very brief appearance in Supertrain before being renumbered 001...
  3. Nothing particularly mysterious about them... CIE's 'standard' Maybach-powered shunters: E401 Class And E421 Class Two of the latter type are preserved at Downpatrick, while a third is on static display at Dunsandle. I would have loved to have seen them in service.
  4. Will Block Rockin' Beats be pumping out of the speakers tonight or will it be the sweet song of EMD power, Noel?
  5. This looks more like a case of the part being shaken loose in transit rather than a quality control failing(!). I'm not sure if UHU glue is available in the USA, but a light dab of a similar tacky glue applied with a cocktail stick/pin should hold the speedo in place, as David suggests above.
  6. If you send us a quick email with the order number we can check it for you.
  7. The 319s have EMD-567 engine blocks, whereas the 071 engines are EMD-645, which have a different tone. The 071 'scream' comes from the turbocharger; as far as I know the 319s don't have turbos fitted. Meanwhile, our warehouse team has finished counting-in the delivery.
  8. The German market is regarded as the largest in the world...
  9. The Irish scene is still very much a drop in the ocean compared to British outline, which is the second largest market in Europe (and one of the largest in the world). Indeed, IRM would not be sustainable by itself, hence Accurascale...
  10. Mis-sent to Dugort... sure the Grundig factory was up near Belfast!
  11. Jaysus, lads! We can't do them all at once!
  12. As @Warbonnet said above, there's a lot of unloading, unpacking and processing to be done. Not sure what additional update you want at this point?

I've seen a couple of other photos of the Sulzers with snatchers fitted and they also had them fitted in this way; it seems the snatcherman had to travel in the rear cab. I'm not sure if there was a communication system in the cabs or if it was a case of the snatcherman having to run through the engine room to warn the driver if the staff wasn't picked up successfully...
  14. I think some of the old Eastern Bloc countries (maybe Hungary or Bulgaria) had certain railway lines operated by mostly children/teens so that they could gain experience for careers on the railway.
  15. Pleased to hear that they have responded promptly when contacted directly. It's becoming clear you have a vested interest in this, so I would politely suggest that the proper way to resolve any issues is to continue to communicate directly rather than sniping at the other side from here as neither party is going to benefit from that.
  16. Have you taken this up with them directly? I can't imagine it's easy to maintain regular operations with a small group of volunteers at this time.
  17. Can you please respond to my question? I get the feeling there's 'skin in the game' here that isn't being declared. My understanding is that it is run by volunteers?
  18. Can I ask what the story is with the constant criticism of Fintown?
