I'm betting on IRM 071's before the turn of the decade, with a special limited edition 319 Retales variant just for me!

Would suggest that there's more of a demand for models other than the 071. As for the 319 - can't see a OO being produced just for one customer unless, that is, you're willing to pay €500K. Still think it'll either be the B101s, C201s or DART 8100s.

    Are you Chinese?

He's not Chinese but the one thing he can TAKE AWAY from this is that it could be ages before IRM make their next major announcement.

Referring to the the Group in the forum. Personally, just 1 / card, bunch of flowers & meal for 2.

Well, I'm an lonely auld git so the only person I'll be buying a card for is myself. Mind, I'm quite heavy so eating a meal for two isn't out of the question.

  4. @exciecoachbuilder - Agree with your sentiment. My preference would certainly be the Park Royals, a passenger coach of that era (silver/green) is desired, especially, to haul behind my A30 and they operated up until the mid 1990s - don't recall any of the modern stock lasting that long.

considering the last announcement was a powered railcar, I doubt that anything in the next 6 months at least  will be powered.

It's going to be a major announcement so, more than likely, it'll be a powered unit/units. Can't rule out the DART 8100 series - sure that'd be popular.

    Two IRM A Class with sound, 054 & A46 on EBay UK starting @£100 each + p&p £12.

That's brilliant value sure, the sound chip is that alone [£100]. Will be interesting to see what they go for in the end. Wonder what scale he's going for?

  8. Now that we've established that there isn't enough demand for OO narrow gauge stock we can concentrate on what IRM are most likely going to announce later this month. I've a feeling that it'll be a passenger coach and the Park Royal is the one which comes to mind. Failing that, it'll be one of the other mainline diesels which have yet to be modelled. Just 26 sleeps to go.......

I know it has been said before but I would really like a 12mm gauge 2-6-0T Dingle style loco

Would there be much of a market for Irish narrow gauge in OO?

.....but I suggested they get someone in who can give them a fair price for it all, which they did, but now I hear the son thinks it is a pot of gold and is asking really silly money for some of the collection.

Sounds like the son didn't really know his father and doesn't appreciate that the real value of the model railway collection was the enjoyment his dad got from operating them. Mind, I know lots of people who don't understand my fascination with model trains and some have asked what they're worth as an investment. Don't think many people consider model railways as a legitimate pass time.

Anyway, on to the subject at hand. While interested, I'm sort of not really bothered about what IRM's next major announcement will be. With the impending arrival of the Class 22 000 railcars I'm fairly covered. At some stage I'd like to have something for my silver A classes to haul but that is no longer the priority it once was, however, I'd find it hard to say no to silver B101 or C201 locomotives.

You’re assuming that the announcement will be on the 1st rather than the 28th.

I'm a very optimistic person, however, if IRM don't post anything tomorrow [2023-02-01] it's most likely it'll be 27 sleepless nights until their next major announcement.

this years first major IRM announcement is in the next month.

Next month is tomorrow so can't wait for IRM's major announcement. With all of this excitement doubt I'll sleep tonight.

  13. @Darius43 - Thanks very much for responding to my query. I used to hear that continental European model railways were more expensive than Hornby et al but, that was with good reason. Never understood why Marklin stuck with the AC system - does it have an advantage over DC? Had a Marklin Hamo E19 locomotive at one time, sort of regret getting rid of it but, always try not to accumulate items if I'm not going to run them.

  14. @Darius43 - Thanks for uploading those pictures. Would say that there weren't too many guys your age [at that time] in Britain who had as good of a model railway layout. Was in my 20s when I discovered there was something out there other than Hornby, Lima and the likes. Do you recall how the Marklin models compared to their British counterparts?
